A scratching left us with just the three yesterday, Manifique storming home just a fraction late to run fourth at big odds, a definite next timer id she’s over longer than the mile, and Night Fighter running third at $1.80.

FIRRIATO
Matamata, 6
Went in the book this day last year with a fast-finishing fourth, and that’s her race pattern. Been close up in most runs, breaking maidens in October but running last of 13 in December. Trialled up two weeks ago without success, this is her best distance and best results have come left-handed, so a chance based on that at $21.

Matamata, 7
Two nice wins in Aug/Sept but done little since. Best form on heavy, does get back, this may be too tough, $41 shot.

ABOUT A GIRL
Warwick Farm, 5
One run in NZ at Tauranga produced an eye-catching win when she was well-supported and sprinted home from last. Now with Waller and McEvoy up top a significant booking, $3.70 second fav in a small but strong field, can win.
BET: 10 unit win
KERMANTIC
Eagle Farm, 2
Finished well at Ipswich at $8 for second, suggesting he’s ready to go well at the 1845m. $4.60 in a small, tight-betting event.
BET: 8 unit win
LITTLE RICH BOY, PRANCE ‘N’ DANCE, TYDEUS
Murray Bridge, 6
LRB noted a year ago with a fast finish but hasn’t followed it up. Usually on-pace, needs to see his races out. Another tight betting race, fav at $3.80 and gets Tourneur up top.
PnD been in the book for two years and only occasionally pops up but has support here after his return 11 days ago from a 210 day spell at $5.
Tydeus noted bolting in on debut and another that pops up on occasion though done little this time in, $9 on offer.
BET: LRB 6 unit win, PnD 3 units ew, T 2 units ew, possible exotics?
ALLEGIANCE
Belmont, 5
Won on-pace in December but nothing in the next two, but best runs have been on this going, $51 on offer, can do better.

SAULOK
Belmont, 7
Never headed on debut in September when bolting in here at $12 before heading to the paddock. Tried to repeat on resuming 14 days ago but ran out of steam late. They’ll try to run him a little more conservatively I imagine over the slightly longer distance today, and fitter second-up he’s a live chance to win here at $5.50.
