Back with a bang!
Back on track yesterday as we went all-in on Rumours Abound (10 unit win) and she defied the betting drift to get home at $4.80/$1.65, backing up the previous 5 length win.
Storm de Lune looked likely for a long time before fading late…
Eight for the midweeks, with a couple of likely looking favs that we’re very keen on…
Eight from the Midweeks…
Jaykayann, Rule Of Time
Sandown R5
Jaykayann is a get-back type we’re pretty keen on, and she was only beaten by our other tip in the race 12 days ago at Cranbourne. Resuming on the Hillside prior she ran a similar race and steamed home in both those races, the 2100m looks nailed-on for her today and while the apprentice jumps on, she looks hard to beat, only query is the firm ground, as she’d prefer to get her toe in. $3.40 fav.
ROT noted in September when she cruised home to break maiden status at Benalla then ran a nice second straight up to the BM64 grade. Two runs for ninth then off to the paddock, and resumed in late March at the Bool and got up for us under L Meech at $7.50. Billy Egan hopped on mid-April at Pak, finishing well for fifth at odds, then stepped back up to 1800m to run a close third under Meech a month ago. Gets B Shinn today, up in grade, distance will suit, very viable EW bet at $6.50.
BET: JK 10 unit win, ROT 5 units ew, must include both in exotics, 10 unit quinella the two…
Oak Hill, Fivefingerdiscount
Sandown R8
Impressive at the Valley in late November, Oak Hill even came from near the back, cruising to win his maiden on the tight track. Didn’t really get into the BM70 at Caulfield next-up but resumed a month ago here on the Hillside track and back to BM64 and with D Lane up top, produced a superb finish after he flopped out of the gates and straight to the back. However, we needn’t have worried as he blitzed home in the last 200m, winning at a very juicy $12.30/$3.30, a nice reward for our 4 units ew! $2.60 fav today, up in grade, looks a bit special, can’t back against him…
Fivefingerdiscount’s early career was top notch, he’s done the bulk of his racing in Tassie and returns from a mammoth 434 day spell after tailing off in his last race, obviously with some issues. Would expect he’d be needing first couple of races to get back into the swing of things, but keep him safe at $51…
BET: OH 10 unit win, FFD, 2 units ew, exotics
Cassiere
Doomben R5
Well-supported at Matamata in March and flew home to confirm the confidence in her for an impressive debut. Immediately hooked over to Aussie by Tony Gollan and takes her bow today there as $4.60 second fav, and if she’s made the transition, she’ll be round the mark.
BET: 5 units ew
Cool Lad
Warwick Farm R6
Has been finishing off his races quite well from his usual rear-ward race pattern in three races this prep. Fitter now, getting closer, we feel there’s win coming and Zac Lloyd sticks, EW at $15 as today’s sleeper…
BET: 4 units ew
Amati
Warwick Farm R7
Resumes from a three month spell, she’s been pretty consistent in her career to date, rarely far away without winning too many. JMac sticks for Waller here, did nothing in a trail couple of weeks back, has won first up though and is 2:1-1 on heavy, which may be the key. Another to keep safe at $13…
BET: 4 units ew
Scamster
Balaklava R6
Huge finish a month ago for second over the mile at Murwillumbah but couldn’t replicate that over the 1800m two weeks later. Back to the mile should suit, (4:0-3) watch for him late, EW at $10.
BET: 4 units ew
