And a first and a second…
Two tips yesterday that we rated as good EW bets, and they duly obliged!
Sacred Kiwi took the front again and produced a superb staying performance to hold on for the win (5 units ew, $5.40/$1.90), anchoring us to the qadi in the process…
Spirit of Pluto (5 units ew) came from the opposite end of the field to finish fast into third at $2.90 the place.
Eleven from the book today as we hit the mid-week racing, and plenty more potential winners here, including some quick back-ups and big-odds runners on show…
Eleven in the midweeks…
LITTLE JOE
Cambridge, 5
Resumes after nearly a year and showed some good, consistent form. Has run two out of three places here, and OP has won onboard previously. The 1300m may be a touch short, but rate him an EW shot in this at $10 for the new stable.

LUXURIANT
Cambridge, 6
We thought she’d win here two weeks ago under OP but she only plugged away for fourth. Dare not get back in this 970m dash, so it’s a cautious EW bet here at $6…

WANJIRU
Sandown, 2
Ah, don’t we just love this little fella, tries his heart out most races. We spruiked him up to go close with a decent jump a week ago up to 2400m on the Hillside track (as did the trainer), and young Laura Lafferty rode him closer, producing a beautiful run in the last 300m, and though headed, he fought back brilliantly to score for us at $6.90. LL sticks today, we go again at $4.40.

GIRL
Sandown, 4
Nice mare who’s gone well under Jye last two, with a win and a big odds third three weeks ago. Stays at the BM70 grade, Jye sticks, and though she’s up against a hotpot fav here, she’s a sound EW shot as $5 second fav.

CYCLONE SALLY
Sandown, 7
Returned to form under Froggy at Cranbourne 10 days ago, leading from the front and never headed at good odds. Jockey sticks, up in grade, so a tougher task here but still worth an EW shot at $19 now the penny’s dropped…

VULTAN
Sandown, 8
Impressive when bolting in June last year, and has been close up since, barring his last run in May. That earned him a four month break, and he resumes under the talented Ms Hefel having trialled early this month. Has won fresh up, EW shot at $9.

KIBOSH
Warwick Farm, 5
Struggling to regain her early excellent career form, but is 2:1-1 on the track, so maybe an EW chance at $19…

TWICE ON SUNDAY
Doomben, 7
Another resuming from a spell (9 months) and has trialled twice, winning the latest one eight days ago. Has had success at this distance, and is usually up around the pace. Jake Bayliss is a key booking up top, chance at $16…

DR COPPER
Mount Gambier, 4
First run back from a spell was plain, but has placed twice second up. Will need to improve to figure in this as a $23 shot.
BET: 2 units ew
HANDSHAKE
Mount Gambier, 6
The way he won a month ago at the Bool suggests that the rise in grade and distance won’t be a problem. $250 fav, he wins for me…
BET: 10 unit win
ALLEGIANCE
Belmont, 8
Backmarker who’s been struggling recently, $51 outsider in this, interest only…
