We sprang off to a great start yesterday, with Hedge Fund (10 unit win) demolishing a small field to win with a leg in the air at $2.40 ($3 if you got on early!!)
Kattegat (4 units ew) tried to lead all the way but hung on grimly for second, paying $2.90.
Ornate (4 units ew) ran his usual honest race to finish third (ND).
Such a Whit (3 units ew) got too far back for his usual finishing burst to get him into the placings, running a not-too-distant fourth.
Nine from the Hump Day book, with some real livewire chances on offer today! And some promising roughies…

Sandown, 5
She was far too good on debut last July, winning by nearly four lengths on this track. Ran two thirds then jumped to G2 then G3 on resumption last month at HQ. That run will have done her the world of good, so don’t discount her here as a $9 shot, especially with Jonny Allen up top…

Sandown, 7
Noted when well-supported on debut three weeks ago as fav at Ballarat, and finished solidly to win it. Follow up was less impressive, but the step up to the mile will suit, and he’s real value at $17 on the quick back-up…

LADY BROOK, RITA MAY
Warwick Farm, 7
LB returns today after a 7 month layoff, and presents as a $6 fav in a very open betting race, but she sports superb stats for this, T&D, first-up, won on heavy. Has had trials to tune up as well, winning one, so if she’s anything like, this front-running mare be featuring in the finish, and should prove hard to catch… RM has some T&D success to her name, and may battle into a place at $16.

STELLAR MAGIC
Eagle Farm, 6
Marked down as a next-timer after a big finish in early Feb at Doomben but barely got out of the back couple. However, the next run produced a nice win for us and she’s another with great stats for this as $3 fav. Up in grade, but is progressive.

Launceston, 8
Down in grade a touch and better in recent runs, but might struggle in this as a $6.50 shot in the small field.

Noted early Feb with a burst from the back. Less effective in the higher grades but a better third last time out. EW shot at $9

Second race back after a spell. Has T&D success as has this jockey on him. $7.50 shot.

Eleven placings from 24 runs and just the one win but is very consistent and more than capable of running in the frame here at $8
