Dynamite!

Ah, what a dynamite ride from one of my fav jockeys Dean Yendall on Teentee yesterday! We spruiked them up yesterday, with DY back up top after a great finish two back put him firmly in the next-time bracket, only for the apprentice to just fail to hang on. No such thing yesterday, and if you backed him 5 units ew early, you got $4.50/$1.90 and he was backed in like a good ‘un to $2.30 fav. The cherry on the top was the $1800 trifecta, which we gleefully grabbed a percentage of. Lovely stuff!

Seven from the midweek racing, let’s see if we can keep our good run going!

Seven for the midweeks…

HANDSHAKE

Bendigo, 6

Noted late July at the Bool with a nice burst from the back to win by 3.3 lengths. Expected him to follow up over the longer distance a month later as fav, but he couldn’t quite pick up the winner. In good form, so an easy EW bet at $5.

BET: 5 units ew

GHOST DOCTOR

Bendigo, 7

Won at this grade last month, generally not too far off, and an EW shot at $12…

BET: 4 units ew

BUOYANTSEA

Bendigo, 8

Resumed 18 days ago for his first run in Aussie after nine months away, needing the run. Previously performed well in NZ, but why’s he carrying top weight in a handicap here? $19 outsider, don’t ignore him… today’s sleeper…

BET: 5 units ew

COOL LAD

Rosehill, 7

In good form this prep, only missing a place by a small margin after five runs in the frame. Up in grade but McEvoy a key booking. EW at 421…

BET: 3 units ew

STOKEDOWN

Murray Bridge, 5

Huge finish for second back in Jan, returning from a 15 month layoff, steaming home after getting trapped, then repeated the dose two weeks later at Gawler for third, earning next-time flags for both runs. Went to Open grade without much luck then back to the paddock. Has had a couple of trials to tune up, and won’t be a maiden for much longer. Jump on early to get those EW odds, currently $4.00/$1.80

BET: 5 units ew

DR COPPER

Murray Bridge, 8

One win in 32 runs, and that over three years ago, is hardly inspiring form to recommend a following here, and he presents as a rank outsider here at around $71. A perennial backmarker, he showed a hint of form two back at Mt Gambier finishing well for fourth but finished well back in the next at Strathalbyn. This is his preferred distance, but will need to bring his A-game to figure, but you never know, we’ve tipped winning $71 shots before today!

BET: 2 units ew

WANGO AWARD

Belmont, 5

Working towards a win under Pikey, just couldn’t hang on three weeks ago here as fav. $3.50 on offer and a chance to salute.

BET: 10 unit win
