No luck for our toofers…
Nothing from our two picks yesterday, but we move onto a very busy Wednesday. with two NZ meetings and five from Aus, and a whopping 16 from the book…
Early start. so let’s get the NZ tips up first…
Early NZers…
LUXURIANT
Cambridge, 6
Went well for third two back at this T&D, McNab jumps on and she’s well placed to take out this small field as the $2.50 fav.
BET: 10 unit win
EYE SPY
Oamaru, 1
Massive run from the back to get up and break maiden’s on her second attempt. That alone rates her a great EW bet in this, winning jock sticks, watch for her late…
BET: 5 units ew
DESTINYS GIRL
Oamaru, 7
Only win was over 1200m on heavy at Avondale, where she was heavily backed, but not shown much this prep. Gets in via the scratchings, $12 seems optimistic…
BET: 2 units ew
CHOKITO
Oamaru, 9
Has won for us in the past, but only one win her last twenty runs has us a bit wary, and she’s just been lugging away in midfield last few… Distance and heavy going stats OK, EW best at $14.
BET: 3 units ew
Hump Day in Aussie…
LUNA CAT, BIFROST
Sandown, 2
LC resumes after 4 months away as $3.20 fav with Olly up top, not sure I share the punters’ confidence… Ex-Kiwi Bifrost spaces his best efforts out but has won this T&D and has good first=up stats. Down in grade on his resumption form a similar time in the paddock, he’s a $10 shot here in this small field.
BET: Tough one this, maybe exotics the way to go…
ELLEN’S LICENCE
Sandown, 6
Won as she liked in November, then resumed after 7 months in the paddock with another dominant win at Donald. Really liked her chances two weeks ago on the Lakeside where she was backed into fav and ran a close fourth. Feel sure she’ll run at least a place here at $5.
BET: 5 units ew
DUKE OF HASTINGS
Sandown, 7
Back from a four month spell 18 days ago and he ran next to last at Caulfield at odds. Second up here he gets Stackhouse up top, this is the easiest he’s contested for a while
BET: 5 units ew
MAGNETIC PRINCE, CYCLONE SALLY
Sandown, 8
MP rates a good EW chance in this, with two solid runs for a win and a second this prep. Couldn’t quite gather in the front-runner last time out, but he’s got good stats for this and the addition of winning jockey Yendall is a big plus. Fav hard to knock over in this, but he’s value at $10. CS, not doing enough, but could help in the exotics…
BET: MP 5 units ew, CS 2 units ew, exotics
RAMONES
Canterbury, 6
His first-up run earned him a next-time badge, where he ran a solid fourth. Next run was way below par, running dead last at Randwick 11 days ago. Capable of bouncing back in this, punters think so too, he’s at $4.80 and worth an EW shot…
BET: 5 units ew
STAR OF CHAOS
Doomben, 4
She’s run close some good winners in the past, and though it’s a year since she won, the switch in stables from Victoria to Tony Gollan will do no harm. She presents here as a $4.20 co-fav of three in a very open betting event, has won and placed first up and has also run second in a recent trial. If she’s ready, this frontrunner will be a real threat over the 1110m dash…
BET: 5 units ew
KERMANTIC
Doomben, 5
Couple of nice wins for us in May/June, but faded into fifth last run here after leading. Benny Thompson jump onboard, rates a good EW chance at $14.
BET: 3 units ew
FIRE LOVE
Doomben, 6
Spruiked up and backed in the win on debut this week last year, and has run a couple of placings since. Been a bit plain, though not far away in this prep, Thornton jumps on, EW again at $14.
BET: 3 units ew
WINNING ACES
Belmont, 4
Just the one win but close up in all four runs this prep. Worth an EW go at $7.
BET: 3 units ew
ALLEGIANCE
Belmont, 7
Ran a third at odds on resuming, but nothing in her next two, interest only…
BET: 2 units ew
