Burn, baby, burn…
Guess we had to crash and burn sometime, just a lone fourth from yesterday’s four, but confident we’ll bounce back today…
Eight as we hit the midweeks, and some nice prospects for getting back on track, let’s have a look!
Eight will be enough…
LA OPCION
Gore, 3
Only the two wins to date but plenty of placings. Resumes from a 5 month spell, has good stats here, though this may be a touch on the short side for her as she tends to get back. EW at $15.
BET: 3 units ew
LOCHNABERRY
Gore, 6
Same jockey as above jumps back on. Resumed 17 days ago after a long break, running fourth at big odds for us and will have gained benefit from that. Has a finish in her, and back up to the 1800m should suit today, good EW shot at $7.50.
BET: 4 units ew
DAY LIGHT
Gore, 9
Very consistent mare in her early career, only missing the frame once in her first seven races before running some ordinary races but did finish last prep with some good placings. Resumes today from a 14 month break, this may be a touch short for her, but does run her best races from near the pace. $16 on offer, worth a small punt…
BET: 3 units ew
BOLDINHO
Geelong, 3
The win two back had merit before he jumped up in grade, running ninth at HQ but only 2 lengths off the winner. Back to BM70 here, good stats at the distance and gets M Zahra up top. Looks like a race in two, $4.40/$1.70 on offer right now.
BET: 5 units ew, 10 unit win if the money comes. Quinella with Pantelone 10 units.
GIRL
Geelong, 4
She’s been racing well in higher grades than this and has been ultra-consistent this prep. Has won here, Jye sticks, and she ran a close third to subsequent metro winner Wishlor Lass last time out. Easy EW bet at $6.50,
BET: 5 units ew
SHORE TO HAPPEN
Eagle Farm, 6
Debut 15 days ago at Murwillumbah was smart, well-supported, got on the pace and won nicely. Winning jock remains, can’t see why she doesn’t win again, $3.60 fav.
BET: 10 unit win
PROTEGE
Ascot, 3
Devastating win by 4 lengths on debut August last year before something obviously went wrong three weeks later when he ran next to last, forcing him to the paddocks. Returns after 14 months today, has trialled twice, winning the last one, which suggests they’ve got him ready to roll. Jockey Holly Watson makes her long-awaited reunion with him, presents here as the $2.30 fav, and we’re sticking with him on the basis of that debut win…
BET: 10 unit win
WANGO AWARD
Ascot, 7
Been racing well under Pikey this prep, finishing well from midfield to place in her last three. He jumps ship today, and it remains to be seen if that is the right move, but it certainly looks between the top four in betting. $6 on offer, making her a worthy EW bet…
BET: 5 units ew, exotics with the other top three.
