No hit yesterday…

A miss for our Tuesday one-hit wonder, but we have higher hopes for our midweek seven from the book!

It’s another one-hit day, and a horse that gave a good sight last time out, running second at big odds, drops in grade today and rates a chance at $15…

Magnificent Midweek Seven…

Jack In The Box, Double Take

Pukekohe R8

JITB not far off in three runs this prep over differing distances. Saves his best for the heavy tracks (22:3-4) and is 3:0-2 at the track a,d has won in this class, $14 shot…

DT is ex-Hong Kong and is also finding it hard to win and he hasn’t shown much for some time. Likes this distance, has won in this grade but has no form on heavy, has to lift, $17 shot…

I Am Velvet

Randwick-Kensington R4

Bit if a win-or-bust record (10:4-0) so we know she has the ability. Won her first three races then competed well twice at G3 level, and looks a decent prospect. Resumed from a 144 day break in April with a nice win. Next three were in higher grade races and she drops back to the BM72 here and looks a decent EW bet at $8.50, with B Nock in great form.

Getafix, The Years

Randwick-Kensington R7

Getafix resumed from a 4 month spell in mid-April, with just the one run last prep for a fast-finishing third. Gritty win on debut and added to it next time plus a couple of placings at G1 and G2. Never figured in two runs at Randwick and Hawkesbury, the latter the G3 Hawkesbury Guineas but will have taken benefit from the runs and drops back significantly to BM72. Will need to be a bit closer to the pace but rates a great chance with JMac taking the ride as $4.60 fav.

The Years falls into a similar bracket. Resumed in January for one run, a solid fourth before heading to the paddock again and resumes today on the back of a couple of quiet trials. Frontrunner, and if he can get across he can figure for Waterbott and Bayliss is a  ice booking, EW shot for sure at $8.50.

Coin Toss

Doomben R5

Former Singapore runner, needs to lift to figure but certainly has the capability. This is his distance (4:1-2), so worth keeping safe at $34…

Araletta

Doomben R9

Spotted her after a trial at Pak in April last year, with trainer Peter Moody spruiking her up, suggesting she was gonna break maidens soon, rating her as a city class filly. She ran second, if a touch greenly, but we fancied more to come, and she resumed in December from a 236 day spell after some good jump-outs, and she duly obliged with a dominant display. Backed that up on NY Day, swooping late to win for us. Finished well for third later in the month then ran a very close seventh up in the BM70 grade in early Feb before heading to the paddock. Resumes from a 140 daybreak and very excellent career stats say she’ll be a real threat in this at a juicy $8 in an open betting event. Love Mallyon onboard!
