Disappointing ride by the apprentice on our one-hot horse Cool Encounter yesterday. We know he’s the get-back type with a decent finish, but 10 lengths off the lead with 600m to go is a difficult position to win from. Maybe he doesn’t possess that early speed to at least sit in midfield and launch that big finish…

Classy Irish mare who won second-up in Aus at this T&D in September with a big finish. Came out a month later same T&D but surprisingly never emerged and ran last, maybe with an issue. Resumed from that six month break 19 days ago under Jake Bayliss, who sticks today, catching the eye with a huge run from last to run second at big odds over the 1350, so that switch back to the mile ticks a lot of boxes, and she is a winner second-up. Sleeper in this at $9.50, get onboard!

Impressed in late Feb with a well-timed run this T&D, then ran a close second up in grade same T&D a month ago, just getting nicked on the line. Up a touch in grade again, but is going well enough to figure in this at $6.50 in a very open betting race…

Frontrunner who’s not shown much this prep, and has not been as prominent this time round… Only win was on debut, albeit a gritty on-pace victory at Sandown two years ago. Teo Nugent is a nice booking however, and need to keep him safe, even at $61…
