BOOMSHANKA!!
And there’s the Christmas turkey in the bag with our One-Hit-Wonder!
We spruiked up Fiorente Spritz to be cuddled along by Coffey and that’s exactly what happened, producing her 200 out with a rails run and she just ran away from them!
Our bet suggestion was 5 units ew, plus anchor her in the qadi and the exotics, rewarded with a win at $6.00/$2.30 when well-supported late, plus the $140 qadi, the $246 trifecta, and if you were bold enough, the $2267 first four!!
Here’s what we said:
FIORENTE SPRITZ
Terang, 8
We’ve spruiked her up in her last two runs, especially back to this grade, and she’s run third and fourth, just fading late slightly over the mile after being on the pace. Surprise then to see her jump up to the 1850m, but her record here is sound (2:1-1), so we’re picking she’ll be ridden a bit more conservatively to be saved up for a final crack at them late. Harry Coffey replaces the apprentice, which might just make the difference, not a massively strong field so we feel this is her chance today, and the $7.50 has plenty of appeal.
BET: 5 units ew, anchor her in the exotics and the qadi, this is her day…
No scams on this page!!
Twelve from the book for the midweeks, let’s win enough for the Christmas pudding!!
Midweek Dirty Dozen…
MISTER GOLDIE
Ashburton, 5
Spruiked up last month and ran a fast-finishing second here at odds. We marked him as a next-timer after that, but it didn’t pan out for him at Riccy. Has trialled up well here too, so looks a solid EW punt at $8.50.
BET: 5 units ew
LORD DARCI
Ashburton, 8
Sitting third in the market at $6.50, but he’ll need to improve somewhat to get past the top two. Resumed a month ago after 8 months in the paddock, presume this is a tune-up as short of his best distance, does have form here and gets Tina up top. Bound to have gained from that first run, EW here.

BRANCASTER BOMBER
Ashburton, 9
The second to Betty Spaghetti three back was worthy at SP $30 for us, followed that up with a nice third at Riccy before dropping out there last month. Great T&D stats here (5:2-2), he’ll run second fav at around $6 in an open betting race and shapes up as a great EW shot.
BET: 5 units ew
IT’S MY TURN
Flemington, 3
With only one failure in her last six runs at the Valley when moving up in grade, it’s surprising she’s at $21 in this, especially after the third at the Bool 17 days ago in this grade. Getting Jye up top a definite plus, loves the distance so why not?
BET: 4 units ew
LUNA CAT
Flemington, 6
Good second back in this grade at Cranbourne 25 days ago, Celine has won on her only ride up top, EW at $4.50 is an easy bet.
BET: 5 units ew
MANDALORIAN
Warwick Farm, 3
Rank outsider again at $151, not surprising as he’s finished last or near last in most of his runs this year. Not sure why he’s up in grade for this, interest bet only…

TWICE ON SUNDAY
Doomben, 5
Overdue a win, on-pacer who’s generally thereabouts, even betting race, EW at $4.50.

EFFORTKAT
Port Lincoln, 4
Nearly sneaked it for us here as $31 shot 12 days ago, a real improver’s run. Drawn well, loves it here, winning jockey sticks, EW shot at $5.50.
BET: 5 units ew
PLAINLY SPOKEN
Ascot, 2
One placing from eleven but has threatened on occasion, gets Holly Watson up top, and rates an EW chance at $14…
BET: 3 units ew
WINNING ACES
Ascot, 5
Only one win but has run two places this prep. Gets back and finishes well so the extra 200m should suit, $21 shot.
BET: 3 units ew
ESPRIT GARCON
Ascot, 6
My notes simply said “Bang!” for his win 17 days ago at Pinjarra from the back, can’t see him not winning this, sell the farm, $1.90 on offer, get in quick…
BET: 10 unit win
ALLEGIANCE
Ascot, 8
They’re nothing if not persistent with this mare, on the 4 day back-up at a $16 shot here, but it’s interest only again today…
