Two promising seconds and a fourth…

The new NZTAB website launched yesterday, obviously a few glitches and challenges as we work out where everything is, but by the end of play yesterday, I was getting used to it. Give it a month, and we’ll be fine…

One thing I did notice was that they have contracted with UK-based bet365 to use their comments on each horse and round-ups on each race, so any form you look up on NZTAB, bet365, and indeed tab.au, will be the same commentary, which goes a little further to adding to the unique service that PG’s Tips supplies, for just 99c per day…

OK, two seconds and a fourth yesterday, including a nice return from one of our blackbookers resuming after a mammoth 564 days away.

Fengarada, the big grey gelding, has won four times for us including a $26 and an $11 win, took a middle position instead of his usual on-pace slot, but zoomed home to run second paying $3.00 (3 units ew), an absolute next-timer, and that’s tomorrow, when he gets out over longer,…

Such a Whit was on the two-day back-up, his form was not very appealing, and he was going round as the $13 outsider in a small field, but we fancied him the pull off a surprise win. Some support for him before the off, and we thought was home and hosed coming off the final bend, only to be run down by a fast-finishing fav, still paid $4 for second though.

And another encouraging run in Rudhyar, who resumed two days ago from a 591 day break to finish well late on, and we just thought he might be able to figure yesterday, and he finished well for fourth, another next-time tag for sure, and he’s in the same race as Fengarada tomorrow…

Five from the book, late qadi at the Bool targeted, and all our tips in with a chance!

Five for the midweeks!!

Bifrost

Warrnambool R7

Former Kiwi who made some late headway at Mornington 11 days ago, and while his win ratio is not great, he regularly pops up for a place. Would like to see him settle closer in the run as he does have a decent finish in him, Billy sticks, EW at $8.50

Showmanship

Warrnambool R8

With only one run in nearly 600 days, this lad’s resuming again here today. He’s won 8 times from 12 runs, so there’s huge talent there. Last run was a fast-finishing fourth at Caulfield in December, and has run second in a recent Traralgon trial. Stats are obviously top notch, will be hard to beat if he’s near his best, $11 on offer, value.

Magnetic Prince

Warrnambool R10

Another resuming, this time from a 209 day break. Rarely far off the frame, likes the distance but just might need the run, $26 on offer.

Baltic Coast

Canterbury R1

Had flown home twice this prep for a third and a fourth before heading to Open class 18 days ago, running eleventh but not far away. Back in grade and up to the mile has him in this, jockey has placed 5 times from 9 up top, EW shot as $7 third fav.

Sunchyme

Canterbury R6

She bombed the start in the run in September at Moruya but flew home for a very nice win. Back after 156 days, she resumed there two months ago and repeated the dose. Jumped to BM72 a month ago as a $17 shot, and we rather fancied she could feature under Tommy Berry, and she charged home late for a close fourth. Fitter now, gets Schiller onboard, the real sleeper in this at $16…
