Aussie Asfoora’s big win!!

Our three runners in Aus couldn’t oblige yesterday, but our rare foray into UK racing produced an Aussie-bred winner!

We got on Asfoora (5 units ew) at $9 and $3, and she found another gear up the middle to get home in the King Charles III Stakes!

Eight for the midweeks, including a couple we’re really keen on at EW odds!

Eight for the Midweeks…

Rumours Abound, Bold Response

Sandown R2

RA noted winning in July with a dominant victory at Corowa from the front, if a little green, then jumping hugely in grade, running last in a Highway at Randwick before heading to the paddock, obviously with an issue. Resumed after 7 months in March after winning a trial and led as she usually does, but faded late, needing the run but only 1.5 lengths away for fourth. Today’s winning jockey went back on a month ago, and we knew if she managed to negotiate the carpark draw, she’d be hard to catch, and that’s exactly what happened, as she won with a leg in the air by nearly 5 lengths! Stepped back out to the 1000m 15 days ago, and despite a drift in betting, she dominated the race to make it 4 wins from 7 starts. Get Jye up top today as she hops up to the next grade, she’s in fine form, and the $5 on offer make her a no-brainer EW bet.

BR also tried to lead all the way 17days ago on the Lakeside track, and was just run down late to land second at nice odds even though up in grade. Sticks there today and Ms Gaudray jumps on, which makes him a nice EW chance at $17.

Luna Cat

Sandown R3

Resumed 18 days ago with an even sixth and will have benefited from the run. Good second-up stats, as well as very good T&Ds. Back in grade from past two runs, rates another good EW chance at $9.50.

BET: 4 units ew

Mathew, Duke Of Hastings

Sandown R5

Mathew noted with a superb run from the back in July last year, surging home from last to win at Sale by nearly three lengths. He resumed at Caulfield six weeks, needing the run, then stepped up 26 days ago under today’s jockey Luke Nolan, bounding home by almost three lengths. Steps up in grade and also up to the mile and a half for the first time, but that last run suggests this shouldn’t be a problem, big chance to go on with it in an open betting race as $4.60 second fav.

DOH is a bit hit and miss, tends to drop to the back but will be finishing on late, wider EW chance at $23.

BET: M 5 units ew, DOH 3 units ew

Crazy In Love

Doomben R8

Former Kiwi who won her only race in NZ on heavy going before heading to Aussie, where she also had a win on heavy at the Bool last July. Career has been interrupted by several spells and she returned 23 days ago from another 264 day spell again on heavy obviously needing the run. Prefers that heavy surface and would need to better quicker out the gates to figure in this as the $41 outsider.

Winning Aces

Belmont R5

One win from 28, which was March two years ago when he went in the book. Resuming after 147 days, will doubtless need the run, $31 on offer

BET: 2 units ew

Wango Award

Belmont R8

Had a decent spell last Spring, barely missing a place over six runs before heading to the paddock. Back after 182 days a month ago here, and finished on well. Decent second-up stats and looks a good EW shot here at $7.50.

BET: 2 units ew
