Boom!
A jaw-dropping finish from Cosmic Rhapsody (8 unit win, $5.90) was the highlight of our three picks yesterday. He flopped out of the gates, and was very quickly six lengths out the back, not a good look for a 1100m sprint… We’ve spruiked him up a couple of times now for two goods wins, and were hoping he’d race a touch closer yesterday, but that all seemed in vain until he took off from dead last to run ‘em down in the straight, truly astonishing!!
Of the other two, $23 shot Loca, back from the picnics, also got back, and steamed home for a close fifth, he’s got a watch on him next time out…
Just the two today after a few scratchings, but they’re two roughies that we believe are flying under the radar and have a real chance of providing some reward today at odds…
Couple of big-odds sleepers today…
WHO’S SAM
Avondale, 2
Won his maiden here 364 days ago on the heavy, then a second, then three so-so runs up in grade and interrupted by a couple of spells in the paddock. Returned 12 days ago in Rotovegas, obviously needing the run, gets Jasmine today, and worth an EW go at $19, though this fav looks tough to beat, and he’s an unknown at this distance…
BET: 3 units ew, exotics with the fav
NARITO
Warwick Farm, 4
He falls into a very similar slot to Who’s Sam. Noted winning his maiden by two lengths just under a year ago with a withering run from the back at Wyong when well-supported and backed it up with his next run, both under JMac. Needed the run on resuming at Randwick, but his soft going and second-up stats suggest he’s the sleeper in this… a juicy $23 on offer…
