One winner, two to watch…

Three very different results for our three tips yesterday…

First up, we were very keen on the chances of former Kiwi Infringement after his resuming second two weeks ago, and he was beautifully positioned in the  run and poised on the final bend to power home for his  maiden win, only to drop out badly in the last 200m. Maybe that was the reason he drifted in betting, but he’s better than that, and it will be interesting to hear of any report as to why that happened…

Cosmic Rhapsody was also second up, a hard one to catch, but he finished well into fifth, we’ll keep an eye on him going forward.

Star performance of the day though, went to Gentileschi in the get-out at Scone. You might have got close to even money if you were on early, but this well-bred daughter of Dundeel was backed like she couldn’t lose, and once they came round the final bend it was bye-bye, and she ran away to win with a leg in the air…

Looks like a horse going places!

Five from the book as we hit the midweeks, where we have some of our faves going round at varying odds, an EW SuperYank the go for us today…

SuperYank midweek…

STANISLAUS

Canterbury Park, 7

Resumed a month ago at Warwick Farm from a 134 day spell and ran an even seventh, needing the run. Ran second in a trial 12 days ago and presents here as the $5 second fav in a close betting race. Good second-up stats, JMac sticks, and he likes the distance. Can win this if he can get past this fancied fav.

EYE PEA OH

Canterbury Park, 8

Two eye-catching runs last prep, where she screamed home for third at big odds and then won a Midway at Randwick for us in late Oct. Back after 172 days, and has run two seconds in as many trials recently, so she could be ready to roll here at big odds of $18. Likes the distance, maybe prefer a bit of rain, but she’s 4:1-1 first-up and the in-form Tommy Berry hops on, he’s 1 from 2 up top. Sleeper, and well worth the EW punt in a wide open betting event…

WAILUA

Caulfield Heath, 7

I’m surprised to see this lad as the $34 outsider in this field… He’s not missed the top four in five runs this prep, got a big finish on him, two thirds at big odds for us last two, drops in grade and retains J Mott. We’re all over him EW at that price!

HAYAI MESU

Balaklava, 7

Just the one win to show for her 16 runs but a couple of seconds and a third last time out keeps her in this. Placed 5 from 5 at this distance, retains Pannell (2:0-2) and a win is not far away, another open betting race, $4.20 on offer.

TYPHOON TAAVI

Doomben, 10

Straight to the front 14 days ago here at the T&D and won as she liked. Up in grade, but winning jock sticks, yet another open betting event, but she’s an easy EW punt in the get-out here at $3.60
