No wins, but a great Kiwi winner…
Rinse and repeat yesterday, no luck from our three tips. However, we did have the pleasure of watching a couple of great wins at Bendigo for the Maher-Eustace stable, a couple of horse that had be spruiked up around the traps. Interpretation took out the Bendigo Cup by a narrow margin, but the ride of the day from Blake Shinn came in the following race, onboard the former Kiwi sprinter in Jimmysstar. He’d had just the three runs in NZ for two wins before being snapped up by Aussie connections. On debut, he looked a lost cause with 200m to go, but Shinn took him up the inside, and when the narrowest of margins appeared, he booted the horse through for a most thrilling win.
We move on, with eight for today, a couple of interesting propositions from Wanganui plus five from Aussie…
Eight today…
ARDEE BOY
Wanganui, 5
He went in the book on debut in July, beating subsequent winner Crickets Chirping, before failing in the Guineas here in early September. Better run at Hawera last time and drops in grade for this, plus he gets the in-form Joe Doyle up top. $5.50 second fav in a very open betting event, I say jump on now!

BURITZ
Wanganui, 6
Last time she ran in this grade she won at Riccy this week last year. Will have benefited from the resuming run 13 days ago at Woodville, and rates a great value EW punt at this distance, $10 on offer.

SACHEM, TEENTEE, SECRET LOCATION
Warrnambool, 5
Just $2.50 cover the first seven in this very open race. Sachem is one of them, ran third for us five weeks ago when we really fancied him under Yendall, then ran a plain eighth over the mile at Hamilton. Big class drop sees him right in this.
However, Mr Yendall did the job for us on Teentee, as we expected, with a superb ride delivering a nice win and a big trifecta. The apprentice is back on today, and confident he can run a cheeky race up from the maiden win.
Secret Location went in the book on debut, with a slashing run to win. Subsequent runs have seen him not too far off the winner, and he also drops in grade for this, so wouldn’t write him off even at $19.
BET: Can back first two 5 units ew, SL 3 units ew, but they are gonna spice up the exotics for sure…
COOL LAD
Gosford, 7
He’d been in good form when we spruiked him up when McEvoy jumped on seven weeks ago, and he duly ran a close second at SP $21. We were confident that the same combo could repeat the dose or better two weeks later at Warwick Farm, but it didn’t happen as he was caught wide throughout. Yet another back in grade today from the city, and we can forgive him that last run, EW shot at $5.

SCENIC RIM
Gatton, 3
On-pacer who stepped up 28 days ago here, never looked like losing when he hit the front. Loves the mile, rates an excellent EW punt at $5.

BEACH WEST
Northam, 7
Back from a 5 month spell, she was tracking nicely early in the year until a couple of failures which sent her to the paddock. Front-runner, has trialled for a second recently, so we’re picking they’ve got her back on track, and resumes over the 1100m, which should suit. $10 shot, worth an EW.
