One-hit winner!!

Our one-hit wonder yesterday obliged in style, with Si Si Milano (10 unit win) giving them a start and a thrashing as we suggested he might do. Shinn settled him well back, but as they hit the last bend, he shuffled him out to the centre of the track and in a few strides he put them away in style… You could have got $2.30 if you got on early, he’s bound for better things!

Very smart winning on debut last October, then ran fifth, then last, in November then went to the paddock. Returned in June from a 207 day break needing the run but made late progress, then ran two close fourths which led us to think he was primed to win 18 days ago at Ipswich as fav, especially up to 1350m, but while he got out well, he faded on the run-in to seventh. Drops back to the 1181m today, and gets a  jockey upgrade in Ben Looker, can make amends today, $6.50 on offer.

On-pacer who’s been poor last two, but does have good track stats (6:3-0) and distance stats (9:2-2), though shown best form on good going rather than the heavy he faces here today. Jockey has had some success onboard (7:1-2) but needs to show some improvement to feature, but is capable, $17 at the mo.

Last seven runs have been here, placing several times. Backmarker who’s down in grade but also distance surprisingly, so they’d better have him closer this time in to give him a shot. Does get H Coffey up top, so rates an EW shot at $7.50.
