Second and a third…

A second and a third from our five yesterday…

Russley Crown (5 units ew) returned from a break with an encouraging second placing a Tamworth, paying $1.60 the place, primed for next time for sure!

Wanjiru (5 units ew) was ridden closer to the pace this time out but was just out-gunned in the final 300m but running a creditable third at $3.30.

Here’s our insider tip, should have run last Thursday but Hawkesbury was abandoned. He’s had a few issues but finds himself drawn well here and Waller likes his chances if he gets an economical run in transit and the rise to 1500m should be in his favour late on, $7 on offer…

Dominant winner at big odds for us in January before up in grade as a $101 shot at Doomben and running ninth, though not that far away. Back to the BM66 today will suit, she’s 4:2-0 first up, same stats on the heavy going she gets today and good stats also for the T&D. Resumes today, drawn a bit wide but if she jumps well, she can give them something to catch over the shorter distance today, sleeper at $15…

Another backmarker who’s steamed home for third in four of his eight runs this prep, though he did nothing in his last two, both on a firm surface. Gets some give in the ground today but more importantly gets fav jockey T Nugent back up top (4:2-0). He’ll spot them a start, but hopefully not too much, look for his flashing home late, and $26 looks generous…
