Two seconds, and some promising finishes…
Two seconds from our six yesterday…
Adolphus ran a strange race, very stop-start, but looked the winner about 200m out as he hit the front only to fade late in a blanket finish for a second at $1.40.
Donation dropped in late, as predicted, he’s much improved recently, and that first go on the AWT was most encouraging, a win surely looming for him after yesterdays’ second paying a handsome $3.50 for the runner-up spot.
The other three all produced good late finishes without hitting the frame, Kew Player, Royal Fox and Bullet Wing promising more to come…
Four from the book today, including one of our blackbookers who’s now racing in the UK and is up overnight at Royal Ascot in her second run and rates a really good chance at good odds!

Fivefingerdiscount’s early career was top notch, he’s done the bulk of his racing in Tassie and returned from a mammoth 434 day spell at Sandown 13 days ago and obviously needing the run at huge odds. Second-up form is encouraging, but the obvious issues he’s he will need some getting over, so he may need more time, but expecting better today with Sarah Field onboard. $61 on offer…

On the 4 days back-up so they must be keen on his chances. Finished with a flourish here last Friday for third under the young apprentice (Ms Field again, who sticks today) and I fancy the push out to 1400m will suit here as $5 fav in an open betting event.

It’s obviously quick back-up day today as SAW returns from his very good finishing burst for second last Thursday where he almost caused a boilover at $51 at Townsville. If he’d been at this distance last week, he would have won, so if he can reproduce that form, he’ll go close here slightly down in grade. Good track stats, and in with a good EW shot here at $10.
