One for the book…

An abandoned Lismore left us with just the one in Sting Jet, but while he got back as usual, he couldn’t find the late burst required to threaten the leading bunch, running sixth. Next time, we’ll be watching…

Just the two again today, and again we are very keen on both, worth including them in the late Mornington qadi…

Been going round at big odds and had done little in two resuming races but ran an eye-catching third at Kyneton 21 days ago, swooping home from near-last to run the winner to half a length. Does get back early and is capable of that decent finish, so the further jump to 2025m should suit nicely today, and jockey is now 4:1-2, and he’s done well enough in this grade (3:1-1) to make him a value runner in this at $9, could be the sleeper!

If you saw the debut of this colt in May, you could not fail to be impressed by the way he put them away at the Bool. Got out fast and gave nothing a chance, winning by 9 lengths, with the second horse Guerite coming out and winning at Donald and duly gapped that field. So when he came out 16 days later at Scone, we fully expected another resounding win, but while he bounced well, he faded badly for eighth, and not unexpectedly, headed to the paddock.

Resumed 25 days ago after winning a trial and we fully expected the win, but the heavy going possibly got to him as he faded late for a close fourth. McDougall jumps ship for the fav today, but we get Jake Noonan, and that’s no knock, I think he’ll have taken great benefit from that run and the firmer ground will suit, $3.60 second fav.
