So close…
Dear me, just two from the book and it was the roughie that nearly made our day, with $18 shot Such a Whit just failing by a neck to overhaul the winner at Mackay!
Bit more action on Hump Day, but scratchings have brought us back to six from the book today, with some good EW chances, let’s take a look at what’s on offer!
Six on Hump Day…
ALLUSIONIST, RITA MAY

Two horse we’re very keen on in this one… We spruiked up Allusionist on return last month. Went in the book this time last year winning his maiden at Nowra with ease and placed or won three more times and was very close up in all but one race before heading to the paddock for three months or so. Ran second in a trial the previous week and led all the way for a $7 win at Gosford for us. Back up in grade, but don’t dismiss him at $14 as Morgan sticks. Has been scratched or involved in an abandoned meeting since. Rita May resumed the following day and ran a close third at a similar price, has a good second-up record too and is 8:3-3 at this distance. Collett also sticks, and she’s a threat at $9.

KNIFE’S EDGE
Kensington, 5
Noted bolting home in November at Newcastle at big odds, then did little in the next two before getting up for us just before Christmas at $8.50 with a late burst. Ran a decent third at Orange a month back, drops in grade and steps up 200m, which should suit this backmarker nicely. The $16 looks juicy, especially with McEvoy up top…

The drop back in grade suited this girl last time out, and she won it from the front for us at $6.50. Back up in grade, but she does have nice stats for this and is nicely drawn, winning chance if she scoots away at $10…

His last win was mid-2021, and he really hasn’t shown much since… $41 shot in this, interest bet only…

Ditto this fella, bizarrely under the same apprentice… His last – and only – win was even further back in the middle of 2020. Threw in a second for us at SP $21 last year, but it’s hardly inspiring form… $61 on offer…
