Just three from the book today, with a backable fav and two rank outsiders in small fields, which could spice up the exotics, but overall a quiet day…
PAKENHAM
Race 2: SET THE SAILS was well supported in his two runs in May last year, running a close fourth and second. Has had an 8 month lay-off and returns as fav here today at $3.30 and this looks like a good race to resume in.
BET: 6 unit win
ROCKHAMPTON
Race 2: ORNATE impressed in December with a fast finishing fourth, then came out and won for us here two weeks later and wins at $8. Then ran third here 2 weeks back at odds-on fav. Tough task as the outsider in this small field at $9 but has good stats and gets winning jockey back onboard.
BET: 5 unit win
Race 3: AUSSIE TYCOON was last out the gates in December and flew home for a close-up sixth. Ran second next up, then a close eighth last time out here. Poor win strike rate, and the seven horse field makes it hard to back her to win with confidence as the rank outsider at $41, so it’s a small wager today.
BET: 2 unit win
