Well, we’ve been banging on that door for a wee while now, and o=boy, did it open yesterday!!
Sandown race 7, I’ll just paste what we said:
Race 7: THE AWESOME SON has got up twice for us since going in the book a year back, at $6.50 and $9. Needed the run two weeks back on resumption, gets Ms Kah up to today, so you’d think they like his chances. $9 looks juicy. FENGARADA likes it heavy, and won two back for us. Good place stats, chance at $21.
BET: AS 3 units ew, F 2 units ew, exotics
And here’s what we got…
1st: Fengarada, $27.60/$5.70
2nd: The Awesome Son, $3.50 place
Quinella: $155
Trifecta: $10,814
First Four: $24,200
25% of the trifecta for me, sweet!
I also had a crack at the late qadi there, fielded the first, then our picks Santero and Moscow Red in the second leg, with Santero getting up at $8.10/$2.40 (3 units ew and exotics), the tri paying $499. Fengarada in the third and three in the last, including the winner, Nerone, for 15% of the $9058 qadi.
Add to that Bandahara getting squeezed out by a lip but still paying $3.40 the place, and I had a grand day! Well, a four grand day in truth…

Race 5: GHOST DOCTOR sports reasonable stats for this, ran a second at SOP $7.50 last time out, which was an improvement on previous runs. Chance in a small field.
BET: 4 unit win
Race 7: RED HAWK ($4.60), ASTEROIDEA ($13) and COSMIC RHAPSODY ($16) all figure in this very open betting race. Lots of chance in this, with RH most favoured of our three.
BET: RH 3 units ew, other two 2 units ew, use them to spice up the exotics
GRAFTON
Race 3: BULLET WING was a drifter on debut but cruised in on his home track at Wyong. Up in grade last time but well beaten, drops back today, and if he gets on speed, he’ll be hard to catch in this small field at $5/$1.70
BET: 5 units ew
Race 4: TARA JASMINE was denied a run here recently, she’s been running in higher grade and shorter races than this, watch for her late, at $4.40/$1.90 she’s another one backable ew. She’s 6’6 at Grafton…
BET: 5 units ew
Race 8: BEL ACADEMY is a cracking little animal, look at his racing pattern and he’s been 1-1-1 in the run in every race displayed. Been narrowly beaten twice by Tara Jasmine, so keep an eye on that result in relation to this race. Not missed a place in eight runs and he’s the value bet today at $13
