Today’s Tips: Sunday 31st July 2022

Three winners from a big day of racing, the highlight being the majestic win of Cross Talk (10 unit win, Best Bet) at $2.60 (you could have got $3.30 early on). He’s going places for sure…

Palencia (8 unit win, $4) and Bold Type (4 units ew, $1.30) got the quinella for us 9$10.70) in the last at Townsville.

And Contributingfactor got us off to a nice start with a win at Rosehill at $750/$2.50.

Some nice placings too, Looks Like Elvis (5 units ew) ran second at $1.80, though I was not enamoured with the ride, dropped out last and finished like a bullet to just miss…

The First Link ($3.20) steamed home late to just miss and Staremm ran second at $2.50.

Plus a rash of fourth placings in Rudhyar, Titanium Power, Takeiteasy, Festival Prince and Cyclone Sally.

A busy Sunday looms with thirteen from the book…

13, UNLUCKY FOR SOME, HOPEFULLY THE BOOKIES…

FORBES

Race 2: CUDDLES noted in June with a nice finish for second, then repeated the dose as fav earlier this month. Could be ready to strike at $15.

BET: 3 units ew

Race 4: POSSIBLY SO debuted well in December, and has been right around the mark since, with a win and four placings in seven career runs. Couple of recent placings has him set for this, Cavallo usually him back in the run, but hopefully will have him a little closer, so watch for him late. $2.40 fav, blinkers go on, drawn well, he wins.

PAHANG is also in this, also a get-back kind of animal but unfortunately without the fast finish. Won his only race second up, but at $34, he’s an interest bet, but possibly adds spice to the exotics…

BET: PS 10 unit win, PH 2 units ew, exotics.

Race 6: We waited a wee while for KATTEGAT to get up for us, but he obliged at Queanbeyan earlier this month at a juicy $9. Tidy stats, has won here, jockey is 2:2 on him and he’s a chance to win again as second fav, $4 on offer.

BET: 4 units ew, 8 unit win if the money comes

Race 7: WILD ROCKET has run two nice placings at $26 and $17 in her last three races and has potential here at $11.

BET: 3 units ew

Race 8: KING CHARMING and COUTURE roll up in this one. KC bolted in on debut last September at Grafton as an odds-on fav, then repeated the dose two weeks later in similar fashion at Doomben. Spelled for nearly 8 months, he reappeared at Hawkesbury in May, where the heavy ground did not suit him at all. He resumes today as a well-backed $2.80 fav, and must be an excellent chance in this field. Also here we have COUTURE, who we noted finishing well but denied a run in Feb. She got up for us at Dubbo two back at $17, and would certainly spice up the exotics at her current price of $151…

BET: KC 10 unit win, C 2 units ew, exotics

BENDIGO

Race 5: Former Irish filly CAP DE JOIE made her Aussie debut a winning one 2 weeks ago, cruising in effortlessly here. Steps up to the mile, Olly sticks, and she’s bound for better things. $2.20 on offer, she wins…

BET: 10 unit win

Race 8: TACTFULL is ex-NZ, noted in Feb blocked for a run when finishing on from the back at Wingatui. Duly obliged next up there, powering home from dead last again to get up on the line. Resumed after 5 month in the paddock at Ballarat on his Aussie debut earlier this month, where he needed the run. Fitter today, and he’s not out of it at $19.

BET: 3 units ew, exotics

MUSWELLBROOK

Race 7: SACRED KIWI is a frontrunner, but doesn’t seem to be able to finish it off. 1200m is probably his best chance to get another win on the board, but it’s an interest bet only today at $41.

BET: 2 units ew

KALGOORLIE

Race 5: Well, it’s well-documented what I think about BLAZING TYCOON, consistently gets into positions that he simply cannot get out of, so let’s hope Ms Corver has had a word in her ear! Needs to be closer, and hopefully can do that from the ace draw, because he’s certainly got a good finish in him. $7 on offer, I’m going to be optimistic (help me out Dunc!)

BET: 5 units ew

HOBART

Race 1: MOSHAMA almost got up for us two back at an outrageous $81 SP, but still ran third at $11.90. His last run at the same t&d was fairly ordinary though, well beaten into next to last. Is capable of a good finish on his day, but can only risk a small win bet as rank outsider at $34. You never know though, outsiders sometimes throw up the odd surprise in these small fields, so try a small trifecta with him anchored to win…

BET: 2 unit win

Race 7: SIR SIMON drops in grade, but he’s been damn ordinary this prep, despite good support from the punters. Stats good, but these Tazzie horses often do… Frontrunner who drops in grade, but I really can’t tip him with confidence… $7.50 on offer.

BET: 3 units ew
