Today’s Tips: Sunday 24th July 2022
Meetings abandoned at Rotorua, Randwick and Belmont reduced our 26 stable of tips to 15 yesterday, but we still managed a respectable 2 winners, three seconds and two thirds.
Establishment (10 unit win) gave us an early boost at $4.60, and what was almost by Best Bet in Teewaters (5 units ew) played a different game than his usual racing back pattern to dominate at Caulfield, with a classy win at $3.60/$1.60, better odds if you got on early.
Duke of Hastings was poorly ridden (IMHO) into second, but Zeefa Zed ($2.70) and Cork ($2.40) returned to better form with their runner-up placings…
In third, our Best Roughie Loox Like a Pro (5 units ew) ran another promising third at a juicy $4.60 the place.
En Francais was a touch disappointing in third in his race…
Eleven from the book today on a busier than usual Sunday, and some good place odds on offer. I’ll be sorting my usual place multi out…
LEGS ELEVEN SUNDAY…
OAMARU
Race 1: REPO MAGIC made a promising debut last September but did nothing in two subsequent runs in the north. Decamped to a new yard in South Island this prep for two sixths, may be ready to show something at the $16 mark. Will need to do something to beat this fav, but could add to exotics.
BET: 2 units ew, include with fav in exotics
Race 4: CHOKITO is as honest as they come, won or placed 14 out of 18 runs, and will front up as a short fav here today and hard to see him beaten. Beat the Bank odds at $1.55
BET: 10 unit win
Race 5: ENOUGH SAID was so far back in his last run at Ashburton, you’d have though he was in the next race. 16 lengths off at the 800m, he was huge from dead last to get up and win. Won of soft, placed on heavy, should have too much for these as $2.70 fav.
BET: 10 unit win
Race 6: TELLING TALES broke his maiden for us two runs back here at $9. Up and coming apprentice Montes de Oca sticks, and if he handles the heavy, can finish in the frame at a tempting $18. Also in this is Day Light, she’s slowly finding a bit of form, and the heavy conditions won’t bother her, another ew shot at $15.
BWT: 2 units ew both these, and include in exotics
Race 7: LORD DARCI has rewarded us well this prep, two wins and a second in his last three, and can make it a hattrick here. Loves the distance, won on soft. Drops in the weights and Williams sticks, hard to beat, can get $4.50/$1.75 on 365…
BET: 5 units ew, if the money comes, 10 unit win
Race 8: I’M A TIGER finally rewarded our patience two weeks ago with a close second at SP $21. Ms Williams also jumps aboard this one, and has a chance to go one better as $4.60/$2.20 fav in this open betting race.
BET: 4 units ew
Race 10: ALL ASHORE produced a huge finish to win her maiden at big odds back in Feb. Won for us two runs later at $8.50 but still making her way in this grade. Does possess good late speed, as shown in her big finish at Riccarton two back, but will need to be nearer the pace than usual to figure in this, another open betting race, at $9

Race 4: FANTASY EAGLE is going well this prep, with two close seconds under his belt, one at a grade above this. Ready to win on the back of that, dropping back to the 1200m, at $3.90

Race 5: ROMANIA led all the way under Froggy in December to clear maiden, then ran a couple of ordinary BM64s, before dropping back to BM58 last time out here, running third for us at SP $10, but back up to the 2200m and down in weight, he’s ready to make the frame today at $5.50

LAUNCESTON
Race 6: MOSHAMA caught the ye back in November with a nice finish to get up and win. Hadn’t repeated that from until his last run here, rolling into a very close third for us at a prodigious SP of $81… Gets the same scenario here today, and is a chance at $21…

KALGOORLIE
Race 7: Well, we waited a while for BLAZING TYCOON to find some form, and he has done with a vengeance with a win and three seconds. My only issue is the way this young lady rides him, gets back early and flies home, often running into problems while trying to weave through a crowd of horses. Mate of mine owns half a leg of this horse, so we’ll stick with him in yet another open betting race today… At $4.40/$1.90 he’s certainly backable ew…
