Some nice winners yesterday, along with some well-priced placegetters…
Sacred Giant ($8.20 winner) and Lord Darci ($2.10 second) also provided a nice quinella. Vardani ($3.30) and Capo De Impero ($4.60/$2.10) won nicely but Gagliardi provided the day’s best reward with a $13.10 win!
Placegetters included Vasmee, Scissor Step, Reputabelle, Castle Bay and Mariamia, but the highlights being Asathought at $5.50 the place and Chokito at $4.40…

Race 5: Saw AUF WEIDERSEHEN bolt in easily from last to first 12 days ago at Benalla, so the 400m step up in distance wouldn’t seem to be an issue. Tend to think he’ll be swooping late again, jockey sticks as he moves up in grade but down on the weights. Looks suited at $12…

Race 6: NUMPTY has been ultra-consistent this prep, barely missed a place in five runs, and has her hoof on the till. Zac sticks, blinkers on and home track, and she looks a cert place at least at $4.80/$2.10

PORT MACQUARIE
Race 6: We’d been hanging on for SAINTLY SUNRISE since his August run for fifth, but on resumption he did very little, finishing next to last. Will have needed the run, but will run as the outsider…

WAGGA
Race 6: KATTEGAT went in the book on the strength of a big finish back in July and subsequently ran a first and two thirds (one of them at $21) before failing at Randwick when he bled. Stood down for 3 months and he’s in an Open grade race today, which is also very open in betting. He’s $7 second fav at the mo, so must rate a chance. K=Jockey has won on him twice previously. Will enjoy the cut in the ground and the distance… Chance if he’s come back well…

HOBART
Race 8: SIR SIMON strung a couple of wins together in Tassie, then moved up in grade without much success, though never too far off, apart from his last run where there was something clearly wrong as he tailed in 40-odd lengths behind the winner… Trialled and won for this, has a good first up record (4:3-0) and drops in grade, though up against a hat-trick fav. Should go well though at $4.

Race 6: WESTERN KING certainly spaces his performances out, maybe a place today at $16…
