Today’s Tips: Sunday 10th July 2022
Three winners, three seconds, three thirds and a couple of near misses from yesterday’s book…
Little Joe lived up to his billing as a progressive sort, booting home by a couple of lengths in a very nice win at Te Rapa at $3.10 (10 unit win).
Duke of Hastings got up right on the line for our best return of the day at $13/$3.50.
And Painted Black, our $73 winner from 12 days ago scored a remarkable win… Ahead at the final bend, he was headed twice, and looked beaten both times, but rallied to get up on the line for as gritty a win as you’ll see! The $6.40/$1.90 made good reading too (4 units ew).
In second we had Titanium Power at a meaty $5 (3 units ew), Cuddles (only paid $1), Aero de Paris at $2.20.
I was very disappointed by the ride on He’s Our Bonneval in the last at Caulfield, Froggy had him too far back and by the time he unleashed, it was all over. I thought he was a nailed-on winner, but ew betters got their money back at $2 the place.
Oselata ran a ND third in ADP’s race, while She’s The Gift threw us a late gift at Doomben with a $5.40 third placing.
Couple of fourths in And We Danced, and our Best Roughie in Teewaters missing third by a head at SP $13.
Some nice odds, with 35% of our tips showing some return!
A quiet Sunday by comparison, 8 on offer, let’s have a look…
EIGHT IS ENOUGH…
BALLARAT
Race 7: TACTFULL went in the book in January, noted being denied a run when finishing from the back into second at Wingatui, and was marked down as a next-timer. He duly screamed home form dead last at the same track 3 weeks later at $6, then went to the paddock. Makes his debut in Aus in this, and if he’s right, he’s today’s sleeper at $16
BET: 5 units ew
Race 8: AEECEE DOLCE is rarely far off, although never really got into it late on her resumption at Casterton 2 weeks ago on the heavy. Has had better luck second up previously and also over this distance. Chance today in a very open betting market, $8 on offer.
BET: 3 units ew
KALGOORLIE
Race 4: BLAZING TYCOON kept us waiting for quite some time, but has shown a new lease of life in her past few races, with a win and a couple of seconds at decent odds. Ms Corver obviously now has the smarts to finish on this gelding, and she rates a real chance in another good betting contest at $480/$1.95
BET: 5 units ew
WODONGA
Race 6: FABRIKKA has paid us a dividend from two seconds in her past three (SP $8.50 and $10), which has been enough to propel her into slight favouritism in this close betting race. The drop to 1100m should be in her favour, the 1400m looking like to far when she failed at Wangaratta two back. St $4.20/$1.90 she’s backable ew in this.
BET: 5 units ew
HAWERA
Race 2: There’s been a bit of spruiking for MIZZENA from a few quarters, she’ll run hot fav at around $2.80 for this, taking that info at face value, and that she’s won at higher grades than this, you’d think she’ll be up for this today.
BET: 10 unit win
Race 8: Been a long time between drinks for ZEEFA ZED, early last year he was providing us with some good returns, but that’s tailed right off, and he seems to be stuck in a mid-field syndrome. However, he can’t be discounted on heavy ground, as every win and placing has come on that surface. Has won and placed here, and the apprentice gets him down to 52.5kgs, the lightest he’s had for some time. EW at $14.
BET: 3 units ew
GRAFTON
Race 6: ULTIMATE MAN went in the book last August when backed heavily and running on late into a place. Subsequently won three times for us and placed twice, and reappears after 2 months or so in the paddock. Not a noted first-upper, but has won on heavy, gets back to his fav distance and has a very respectable course record. EW shot at $12
BET: 3 units ew
HOBART
Race 6: I really can’t tip SIR SIMON with a lot confidence today, the front runner has been miles off recently, and while he’s got local form, all these Tazzy horse have it… Up in class too… Only thing in his favour is being back to his fav distance. Small and very tight betting field, $4.80 on offer…
BET: 3 unit win
