He’s been very consistent, three seconds and two wins in his past five, has won twice first up and gets Ms Kah today as $1.95 fav. Hard to beat.

DESERT ICON, FRANCESCO GUARDI
Flemington, 6
Winner of his last two round the Valley from the front, Desert Icon will need to be ridden a touch more patiently over the extra 500m today, but has won over this distance. Stablemate Francesco Guardi had been most consistent up till his last run for eighth at Randwick, but can fill a place here at $17, plus flesh out the exotics…

Smokin’ Romans continued his run back to form with an $8 win for us at Caulfield two weeks ago, and can figure here up in grade at $17, but I also have an eye on Duais who looks as if she’s been primed for this. Has won here, good stats over the distance and the extra 400m will suit today. Second fav at $5.50.

Won his first two, then ran a creditable fourth at G3 level at $17. Back in grade today and $4 as second fav in a race between three.

Not missed a place in nine runs, so his stats are up there. Already a winner in higher grade, he’s a must ew bet at $7.50.

Mankayan ($10 today) was a disappointing fifth behind an impressive Durston last time out, who powered home from near last to win by 3.5 lengths, and look hard to beat in this as $3.10 fav.

RUSTIC STEEL

Super-impressive winning in February an subsequently won twice more for us since. Trialled twice before resuming at Rosehill three weeks back, finishing a very close eighth at odds in the Group 2. Back in grade, very good stats for this at $10.
