Today’s Tips: Saturday 19th February 2022
Huge cards today, with 15 meetings in Aus and two here in NZ, plenty to choose from today, let’s see if we can maintain that 23% Saturday win strike rate from our 27 tips!
ELLERSLIE
Race 6: MOIRAS TOWN has done nothing in two runs since looking good winning three in a row late last year. Not happy in the wet, so place chance at best today at $61.
BET: 2 units ew
Race 7: REGAL LION will need to be at his best to get past the top two in this but is a place chance and could spice up exotics…
BET: 2 units ew
Race 8: CASTLE BAY had impressed at the trials before coming from dead last to win at Puke at December. Up in distance today, but still a chance at $15 after her eighth here last month.
BET: 3 units ew
INVERCARGILL ASCOT PARK
Race 3: THE GIFT finished well for second 10 days ago here, and Tina will give her every chance today, can win this at $3.70
BET: 5 unit win
Race 5: GIVEHERAGO was backed up at Gore two runs back, and duly obliged. Ran third for us last week here and is an ew chance at $7.
BET: 3 units ew
Race 8: ASATHOUGHT is up in distance and down in grade today, she’s been finishing off well last few races so the extra distance should suit today, a chance at $6.
BET: 3 units ew
Race 9: TYLER EIGHT will run fav here ($2.90 at the mo) but I’m not sure he’ll see out the mile. In his only run over this he ran seventh, fading after being on the pace, so it’s a cautious win bet here.
BET: 5 unit win
FLEMINGTON
Race 1: TIGERTIGER is back after a 7 weeks break, racked up 4 wins and two seconds for us since spotted winning in fine style at Mornington in October. Won a Cranbourne trial recently to tune up for this. Back in distance and grade on his return, jockey never out of the frame in 8 rides on him, looks value at $10 if he’s ready…
BET: 5 units ew
Race 3: YONCE was impressive on debut and backed that up with two more wins as she strides through the grades. Hard to see her beaten, fav at around $2.80. GROOVY KINDA LOVE slaughtered a big field at Ballarat four back, and hasn’t been far off since, ew chance at $6.60.
BET: Yonce 10 unit win, GKL 3 units ew, include both in exotics
Race 5: RIOYUKI noted flying home at Kilmore in September, then got up next time and then again at the Valley for us 3 weeks back at $4.30. Lane sticks and she’s a shot at $7.
BET: 3 units ew
Race 7: MASKED CRUSADER contests the Black Caviar today, and at $8.50 he’s a place chance, as it’s hard to see Nature Strip and Eduardo not filling the quinella.
BET: 2 ew MC at $8.50, 10 unit quinella the top two.
Race 9: PIONEER RIVER is in great form, only denied by the Valley track last time out but looks the one to beat back at his fav track and distance. Must go in and is backable ew at $6/$2 (365).
BET: 5 units ew
MORPHETTVILLE
Race 1: PRANCE ‘N’ DANCE resumed after a 4 month break with a gritty win here 2 weeks back. Dom sticks, and she can go on with it at $3.20.
BET: 8 unit win
Race 8: EMBOLISM has elected to run in this instead of the Flemington Listed race, he’s back after a 4 month break. Hasn’t won for a while but he has a good first up record and drops in grade for his return, and looks like running fav at around $2.80. NIGHT PASSAGE is another one here for us, and has won her last two, up in grade but definite win chance.
BET: 10 unit quinella these two, hard to separate… could back either to win…
ROSEHILL
Race 3: REMUS threw a couple of nice placing together 2 month back, but subsequent two runs were not as good, though he wasn’t far off… ew best today at $14.
BET: 2 units ew
Race 6: CYTHERA was spruiked up on debut after winning a trial here, and obliged at Randwick. Worth following ew in this at $8
BET: 4 units ew
Race 8: HILAL won two in a row for us at the end of his last prep, came back after a three month break to run fifth 2 weeks ago and can run a place today.
BET: 3 units ew
ORANGE
Race 1: COUTURE was bumped badly on the run in to finish fourth last time out and rates a chance to break maidens here at $2.60.
BET: 4 unit win
Race 2: DAMREEL just missed a place for us 3 weeks back, and will run as fav in an open betting race, $4 on offer.
BET: 4 unit win
ROCKHAMPTON
Race 5: KASHKAR is down in grade, but will need to show some improvement to figure at $5.50. Won first three of her career.
BET: 2 units ew
WAGGA
Race 3: OH NO MIKKI produced a great finish from the back to break maidens on debut, and followed up with another win for us at$4.80 next time out. Ran two close placings before heading to the paddock for 4 months, back today as a $3.30 shot in a winnable race. OUR BAEZ was noted screaming home early December for second, but has produced the same form next two runs. EW today at $7.
BET: ONM 8 unit win, OB 2 units ew, include both in exotics…
Race 8: TAP ‘N’ RUN has only missed the frame twice in 10 runs, and must be a shoo-in to at least place today at $6.50/$2.40. Good stats for this.
BET: 5 units ew
SUNSHINE COAST
Race 3: PAINTED BLACK showed some grit in battling back for the win at Ballina two back. Way up in class, hence his $41 status, suggesting this might be a bridge too far for him.
BET: 2 units ew
Race 5: TAMILAIDE presents with good stats for this, won for us last week at $3.80 and can win this at $2.80.
BET: 8 unit win
