Race 5: This race throws up both BANKERS CHOICE and LONDON BOUND, the former who we’ve been following since a huge win in June. Has rewarded us with two wins this prep, at $21 and $3.50. Up in grade today, and finds sterner competition from the fav. LB really hasn’t lived up to the dashing win she produced in July, and her $51 price reflects that. One for padding out the exotics I feel…

BET: BC 6 unit win, 10 quinella with the fav

Race 6: Well this is interesting, with the top two favs from the book in PAREANUI BAY and SHAMUS, plus the in-form HABANA. Hard to see PBay getting beat, so it’s about getting value out of this one.

BET: PB 10 unit win if you feel it’s worth it. Include the other two in exotics, H worth a 2 unit ew punt.

Race 7: AQUAOIR screamed home for the win in five weeks ago, then ran a close fifth up in class next time out. This is another level again, but Cameron sticks and she does have a good finish in her, so back up to the 2100m could work in her favour. $21 on offer.

Race 9: And another race with three from the book, BRING IT ON, MORMAIRE and SAMIAM SEUSSIE. SS will likely run fav in this open contest ($4). M won with a dashing run on debut and built up to a nice third last time out, looks a good ew chance. BIO, always thereabouts in the run, but unable to finish. Back up to 1600m today but has failed to win there at 24 attempts… Might spice up the exotics…

Race 7: Looks a contest in two, with SOUTHERN OCEAN and Savezar heading the betting. SO is our boy, drops in grade today and is capable of taking this out.

BET: 6 unit win SO, 10 unit quinella with Savezar

Race 10: TYLER EIGHT is 3 from 4 and rates on top again here after his 2 length win at Riverton 2 weeks back. The $4.80/$2.00 on offer makes him a cast-iron ew bet if you get on early.

FLEMINGTON

Race 2: DECENT RAINE is consistent, ran out of room last time out and can make amends today, with Attractable supplying the main opposition.

Race 3: UNDER MY SPELL has hit this prep in fine form, with a win at Pakenham and a fast-finishing second at Caulfield on Boxing Day. Micky Dee jumps back onboard, and the 1700m looks right up her alley…

Race 4: FIGHTING ARROW impressed when he won by 7 lengths in November before jumping in grade and running a close fifth to Burning Power. Made amends for us next time out at Terang with a 4.5 length win and looks a great chance at getting in the frame today

Race 9: SWEET KAROLINA is a consistent mare and should run at least a place in this very open betting event in the last at headquarters. Yet to win here but loves the distance and the footing.

ROSEHILL

Race 1: TITANIUM POWER owes us nothing with wins at $13 and $9 for us in the past month or so… On pacer who runs in the same grade today and ticks all the boxes.

Race 10: CELESTINE is lightly raced and has wins over Smokin’ Val and Jabali Ridge in her early career. Has had a couple of big breaks and came back on 1st Jan at Randwick where she’ll have taken great benefit from that run. $13 on offer, ew possible.

Race 6: DEMURRAL is consistent, and stepped up in grade to run fourth here last month. Back in BM68 today looks hard to beat.

Race 8: FAR TOO EASY, another consistent runner, is $13 today for this, surely great value with his stats in this very open betting contest… (6:4-1)

Race 4: MOMBASA came back after nearly 20 months away to win here in November at odds, with a great burst from near last to get up on the line. Then went for another 2 month spell and pops up again today. Azzopardi sticks, worth keeping safe at $14.

Race 7: NIGHT PASSAGE blitzed the field by nearly 7 lengths in September but hasn’t really gone on with it. Back to her best distance today and on her preferred going, the $4.60 on offer looks a bit lean but worth an ew bet if the price is right…
