Today’s Tips: Friday 8th April 2022

Not much to write about yesterday’s blackbookers, but you get that occasionally…

Let’s take a look at the eight from the book today…

Just a heads-up, as from tomorrow, in order the streamline and focus on our main chances from the book on a busy Saturday of racing, we’ll be narrowing down our usual vast 25-30 selections to feature a Best Bet and Best Roughie selection, plus a Top Ten of the remaining picks from the Book. The Blackbookers outside these 12 picks will be listed without comments, but with reference to what races they are in and current odds.

We’ll continue to try and tip you the late Victorian qadi.

AWAPUNI

Race 4: PACKING NOBLESSE  returns on the back of a trial win, and has first up form. Has other good stats and can make an impression first up at $7.

BET: 3 units ew

Race 7: SAMIAM SEUSSIE  is honest as they come, with two wins and two placings for us in her last four races. McNab sticks, and if she can see out the extra 400m today, she’s a show in a small field at $3.

BET: 6 unit win

CRANBOURNE

Race 4: MAKTASTIC  made his Aussie debut 12 days ago, and the former Kiwi galloper was a close up fifth after consistent form in NZ. Steps out over further today, and looks like he’s ready for this around the $4 mark.

BET: 6 unit win

Race 5: NUMPTY  has been another consistent mare for us, placing 4 out of the past 5 runs an never too far off the winner. Zac Spain sticks, and she looks a chance today at $6.50.

Race 6: ISLAND EDITION  is overdue a win, placed third at MV last tow, the last one caught wide but finished well. Watch for him late today, should be suited by the better draw in this mall field. Zac onboard this one too, $2.80 on offer.

BET: 6 unit win

ROCKHAMPTON

Race 2: TEZOFF  is progressing in the right direction and can win this from the front in another small field as rank outsider at $8.50. Good stats.

BET: 5 unit win

Race 6: AUSSIE TYCOON  has had 79 starts for two wins, never too far away but always finishes on well. Up in grade today, and another rank outsider at $51 (365), could spice up the exotics if she can race a bit more on pace.

BET: 2 units ew

CANBERRA

Race 1: GORUSH LIGHTNING  caught the eye with a devastating finish at the Sapphire Coast in August after being heavily backed. Ran at odds up in grade in the next two before heading to the paddock, and returns today after nearly 6 months back to BM65, and if he’s right then the $19 on offer looks attractive…

BET: 3 units ew
