Today’s Tips: Friday 18th November 2022
A nice winner and three more places…
I was very bullish about our tips yesterday, even more so when Wanjiru (8 unit win) ran down the fav at $3.30. Breasley had tried to pinch it, at one point 8 lengths clear of the pack, with our lad a further 4 lengths adrift. But coming round the final bend, the leader got the thumps, and Wanjiru gobbled him up to win by just under a length.
From there it was a series of placings, Ornate (3 units ew) running second at $3 the place, Silver Bo (8 unit win) not quite able to reel the second fav in, also second, at $1.50, and Rebel Lee (4 units ew) a long neck and a head away in third paying $1.80.
Night meeting at the Valley, and we’ve got seven from the book, plus one my mate’s been keeping an eye on at New Plymouth, up on debut in the first…
The Magnificent Seven… plus one…
PEARL OF ALSACE
New Plymouth, 1
One of my Punting Pals has been keeping an eye on this Tavistock mare, she’s been scratched three times round the central district over poor draws, and she gets her chance today. Went up at $11, quickly in to $7, now down to $3.80/$1.85 on 365, so backable EW.
BET: 5 units ew, could head the field in the exotics…
REPUTABELLE
Moonee Valley Racing Club, 1
She ran four wins in a row in NZ before heading over to Aus in September. Finding her feet now, running fourth and third in her last two, the last won at this T&D after leading. This is the track to do that, and she’s a fitter horse now, and I think she can hang on in this at a nice $9 price… Small field, so it’s on the nose, but she could make the exotics interesting…
BET: 6 unit win, exotics
BOLDINHO
Moonee Valley Racing Club, 4
Super consistent gelding who’s back in grade, not missed the frame this prep. Fav jockey sticks, will be finishing fast, don’t want to see him too far back on this tight track.
BET: 10 unit win
MISS JENNIFER
Moonee Valley Racing Club, 8
She was huge late to win at Sale in September, but has offered nothing in two subsequent runs over 1400m. Back to her unbeaten distance today, gets Zac Spain up top, and a chance at $18…
BET: 3 units ew
PEPPER’S GHOST
Grafton, 2
Noted over a year ago in his last win, cantering in at Cranbourne. Ran a better race on resumption early this month, finishing well from the back at Eagle Farm, gets Benny Looker onboard today and they’ve got him at $4.40/$1.80 on 365, worth a shot
BET: 4 units ew
TAIKUN TOMMY, ULTIMATE MAN
Grafton, 7
These two are around the $8-$9 mark in this. TT was noted with a huge finish back in Feb here, where he’s run the bulk of his nineteen races to date. Not sure he sees out the 1400m, but he ran well enough on the T&D here two weeks back, so rates a chance. UM ran a third on the same day here, which was an improvement on his earlier form, not sure what made the difference there.
BET: Back both 2 units ew, though leaning a touch to TT. Exotics?
SPIRIT OF PLUTO
Grafton, 8
Noted flashing home at Tamworth in June last year, then won next time out for us at Coonamble paying $8 to clear maidens. Did little in three subsequent runs before heading to the paddock for 9 months, returning last month and running two thirds for us, the first one at SP $41. Could be a sleeper at $21 in this…
