Race 1: MAKTASTIC has his hoof on the till and is way overdue a win to clear maiden ranks after three seconds in a row. Surely his best chance today in this small field, but will be odds-on…

Race 5: ALLEGIANCE is also closing in on her first win after a couple of third placings, the recent step ups in distance look as if they’re doing the trick. $3.20 in an even betting contest.

Race 1: A one-ride alert on Jamie Kah in the first on EROS. Can be a bit of a lottery on these first-start maiden races, but she has a good strike rate with the in-form Freedman stable, and betting could be an indicator in this. Currently around the $2.40 mark
