Dark Destroyer rounded them up on the line for Sam, paying $4.70/$1.80.
Tyler Eight cruised in by a couple of lengths at odds-on as expected…
TigerTiger produced a winning burst from the back to get up at $9.20/$2.30
Clemenceau also produced a classy win at $2.50
But the ride on Lighthouse was something to behold… seemingly trapped in the pack, McNeil conjured a gap for him, and he simply smoked ‘em! Astonishing!
Five from the book plus a bit of oil for a cheeky Sunday punt… $1 Heinz bet will cost you $57, potential return of $166K!!
TAUHERENIKAU
Race 4: GEE STRING has been in fine form since going into the book in June and looks poised to continue it today in this small field, $3 on offer.
BET: 8 unit win
Race 5: MORMAIRE powered home on debut, then did nothing next up. Ran a close fifth last time out at Otaki and should threaten today up to the mile, $6 at the mo.
BET: 3 units ew
CRANBOURNE
Race 5: FENGARADA had his win on heavy back in May, then ran a close second. Hasn’t quite got back to those levels but rates an ew chance today at $5.50.
BET: 2 units ew
Race 6: STAR MIDFIELDERÂ was backed on debut in August and ran an eye-catching third. Followed up with a win then ran in higher grade events without success before dropping back to BM58 at Mornington two weeks ago, running third. Cost $115,000 and this looks a suitable race for him, $2.80 fav at the moment.
BET: 8 unit win
GILGANDRA
Race 6: FOX SPIRIT is on the quick back-up from 4 days back, if she starts. Was coming off a three month break and probably needed the run. Has won second up, and on this course, but she’s the rank outsider in this, maybe the sleeper at big odds…
BET: 2 units ew
TAURANGA
Race 3: For what it’s worth DUNEAGLE was a tip from a connected mate of a mate last time out at Te Rapa and did nothing behind our horse Bankers Choice. Actually got good stats for this, so I’d rate him a chance in this small field at $4.60.
BET: 4 unit win
