Today’s Tips – 17th Dec 2021
Some mis-info yesterday, where couple of sites had Mott riding Toojay, but this didn’t appear so. Landmine almost saved the day for us with a fast-finishing second at goods, posting a $3.20 dividend. We’ll be keeping an eye on him next time…
OK, onto the pre-weekend punt, let’s have a look at the four from the book today, my usual $5 Yank ($55) will produce a nice little $5K Christmas bonus!!

MOONEE VALLEY
Race 2: RIOYUKI caught the eye late September flying home for second, and was marked next-time, where she duly obliged at short odds. Went to Flemington up in grade in a Stakes race and was well beaten. Back in class today, Yendall jumps off and Jonny Allen jumps on in a small but even betting race.
BET: 3 units ew if the betting allows. 5 unit win if the money comes…
Race 7: SWEET KAROLINA has had a 6 month break and is back tonight. 1200m might be a touch sharp for her, but she’s a quality conveyance, and if the money comes then she’s a show. Very consistent mare, and getting Olly onboard is a massive plus. $6 at the mo.

OTAKI
Race 7: MORMAIRE powered home on debut under Sarah McNab, then did nothing next time out. McNab jumps back on in another even contest, heavy going the question.

CANTERBURY
Race 8: Well, Rory Hutchings is at it again… for the third time in a row, he’s taken just the one ride at the meeting, and it’s on TITANIUM POWER again, I’ll simply repeat my previous comment and review. Up in class, but momentum is on his side…
TITANIUM POWER was spruiked last time out, especially as it was Hutchings only ride at the meeting. Settled way too far back and came home with a wet sail to finish into fourth. Amazingly, it’s that jockey’s only ride again today, so here’s a real roughie with a chance at $17. Get on early!
What can we say, time to blow our own trumpet again, two winners from four, including that $17 winner Titanium Power, which we outlined and referenced with a video link. Led all the way for a memorable win, netting me a couple of hundred Christmas turkeys in the process, including the win/place, trifecta, and two parts of the Yank bet.

MV LATE QADI
Some interesting racing tonight, with some hotpot faves going round, sprinkled with a few roughie chances…
Leg 1 seems pretty open, headed by a $4.40 fav, so I suspect we need to go wide here. While finishing behind the fave Sweetzou two back, El Salto ran a close second to one of our own in Joltin’ Joe two weeks back, so need to be included, but it doesn’t stop there, so we’ll cast our net wide in this one…
Leg 2 seems a straight out battle between Poppy Joan and Sacred Lass, and to be honest, it’s hard to see the winner coming from anywhere else, but I’m gonna include Pentire’s Spirit in as a sleeper… If he gets in, he’ll scour the pool…
Leg 3, and I’m going balls out for our girl in Sweet Karolina. Money’s coming for her, and Olly’s the key for me…
Leg 4, and there’s a huge groundswell for Rights of Man across the board, even after disappointing when well-backed on resumption. Gets Kah, and has to go in, but I’m in throwing in Brenlynn’s Trooper, who we’ve backed previously, just as the sleeper, even though I do dislike going light in the last…
