Today’s Tips – 18th Dec 2021

What a genius Olly is! He steered Sweet Karolina to a brilliant win last night at the Valley for us, great value if you got on early at $6, but still paid $4.

Rioyuki popped up in third, and both Mormaire and Titanium Power were prominent before fading late…

Huge range of racing today, 15 meets in Aus and two here in NZ, lots from the book today, let’s see if we can put some turkeys on the table for ya!

Late Flemington qadi to come later…

FLEMINGTON

Race 1: LUNA CAT gave ‘em a spanking two weeks back at MV, coming from the back to win by 3.3 lengths, and though up in grade, looks capable of taking this out. $2.60 fave at the mo.

BET: 6 unit win

Race 7: SIXBYSIXTYTHREE is going through the grades nicely, 3/3 so far and absolutely cruised in last time at Pak. Will run close to fave today, and can keep the run going. The Gauch will make it interesting.

BET: 8 unit win

Race 8: AKECHETA is in fine form, not missing the frame in six runs. First time at headquarters but his stats are otherwise very sound. $8 looks very good value.

BET: 5 units ew, exotics

Race 9: GALENUS is a very talented Tassie sprinter who’s been off the scene for over 7 months, and returns today after winning a couple of trials last month. With a record of 8:5-2 plus top notch other stats, he’ll go close today under Prebble. Currently around $4.60 in a small field in the get-out, he’s up against some other good animals, but can return with a win.

BET: 6 unit win

NEWCASTLE

Race 6: DARLEB has been in fine fettle for us recently, winning his last two on the Sunny Coast as he progresses through the grades. Steps up to the mile for the first time in a long time today, but his racing pattern suggest he’ll be dropping on them late. Jockey is 2:1-1, will be one of the faves today, around $3.60 at the mo.

BET: 8 unit win, exotics

Race 7: FANTASY EAGLE came back after a 6 month break, prior to which he’d run a first and a second for us. He’ll have needed that run, and gets back to his fav distance today. He’s a consistent placegetter (64%) and gets the services of Buckley today, who’ll give him every chance. Don’t dismiss at $34, even though he’s drawn in the carpark and might prefer a touch of rain.

BET: 3 units ew, include in exotics

TE RAPA

Race 3: RIDGEVIEW CHIEF boomed home at Matamata at the start of September to clear maidens, but hasn’t followed up on that in two runs since. Softer going will help. $23 at the mo.

BET: 2 units ew, exotics.

Race 6: GLOBAL CURRENCY is consistent, and will run fave for this ($3), gets Opie today and should go close, though I suspect he’d prefer it a little wetter under foot. CHAKANA was impressive at Tauranga in October, winning by 5 lengths, and followed up for us three weeks later with another win there. Jumped in grade and distance last time and ran fourth, and can certainly feature today, though she too would welcome any rain. $8 on offer.

BET: 5 unit win GC, 3 units ew CH. Include both in exotics.

Race 8: LONDON BOUND and BANKER’S CHOICE, both from the book, contest this one. BC finished his last campaign with two wins, the last one by an impressive 7.3 lengths at Tauranga. His first run back was nothing flash, and he does tend to save his best for the heavier tracks, so be wary. LB drops in grade today, and while she produced a dashing run in July to win on the synthetic, she’s run three times at Riccarton without reproducing that form. Back up north today and dropping in grade from G3, worth watching.

BET: Both 2 units ew, include them in your exotics…

Race 9: HE’S THE MAN won well at Puke in May, and hasn’t been too far enough in most of his subsequent races. Gets Opie, and can run a place today.

BET: 2 units ew

AWAPUNI

Race 3: SAPPORO blew ‘em away at Hawera in October, and maybe had on excuse with the dead going last time out. Heavy today, but he can bounce back in this.

BET: 4 units ew if you get on early. Exotics.

Race 8: In a very open betting race INMYSHADOW is currently sitting at second fave at $4.50 on TAB, but $7 on 365 if you’re quick… Class dropper, and gets fav jockey Elliot  back onboard, but will need to improve on his previous runs this campaign (three 7ths and an 8th) to get some of this. Still, he’s fancied for this, so your bet depends on the price you can get…

BET: 3 units ew if it works for you, otherwise 5 unit win.

EAGLE FARM

Race 3: TAMILAIDE was noted slow away and screaming home for second at Doomben in June, and hasn’t missed the frame since. Well-placed to win again here today, back in grade and at his fav distance. He’ll be short though…

BET: 8 unit win

Race 7: FAR TOO EASY has lived up to his name since bowling home at Grafton in July, and is now 4 from 5. Has to get past Rhapsody Rose, but the two seem to have this between them.

BET: 8 unit win FTE, 10 unit quinella the two.

DUBBO

Race 3: SPIRIT OF PLUTO was noted at Tamworth in June, getting up for fourth after settling at the tail. Duly came out and won for us at Coonamble next time out at $8, then went to the paddock for 5 month. Returned two weeks ago needing the run, but with his running pattern, if they can get him a little closer in the run, he can finish over the top of these late…

BET: 3 units ew, exotics

MOREE

Race 2: KELLY’S PLAINS finished well two back at odds, but was well beaten next time out. She’s a beat-the-bookie tip today, one for odds…

BET: 2 units ew, could spice up exotics…

FLEMINGTON LATE QADI
