Boom! Boom!
A welcome bounce-back to form yesterday, with two superb winners!
Drift Net produced a withering burst to get up at $8.50 for us, and as the commentator said, “That’s the Drift Net of old!”
Out west at Ascot, we were quietly confident that Black For Cash could pick up on the win three back after a couple of seventh placings, and sure enough he hit the front on the last bend to power away for a juicy $10.70 win.
Should have been three as we watched Changing Colours hit the lead 200m out, only for the second-placed to rally late and nick her right on the line.
And maybe it could have been four winners but for the scratching of Dillinger earlier…
Four for Thursday and plenty to like about most of them…
Four for Thursday…
The Other Straand
Goulburn R2
Bit of hype about this well-bred filly on her debut in late December where she was duly well-supported but jumped slowly, ran very greenly and finished a poor last, but was duly put in the book to keep an eye on. Here she is again, and expecting her to improve somewhat on that show, $5 shot in an open race…

Sapphires Son
Goulburn R5
With one win in his last twenty runs, he certainly needs to lift. Ran a class record in August 23, so we know he has ability, but he’s struggling to find any form, $71 shot in this…

La Pleine Lune
Kyneton R6
Super win when resuming in early April, and fully expected him to go on with it at Echuca 20 days ago, and while he took up his usual role at the front, he faded late over the 1400m. Back to 1203m should him hard to beat in this at $5…

Famous Dain
Albany R5
Absolutely huge from dead last in mid-April, and the rise to 1800m 13 days ago looked most suitable but he left it a bit late but still managed a close fifth. Hoops up to 1900m here, and worth another shot as $2 fav.
BET: 10 unit win
