Boomshanka!!
Another fabulous win from our pocket-rocket in Wanjiru (5 units ew), with a great ride once again from Laura Lafferty. Before the last win, trainer David Bourne was waxing lyrical about the gelding, and how honest he was, so following him yesterday was simple. The rewards were worth our faith in him, paying $5.30/$1.90, and we piled into the trifecta and first four, which paid $318 and $3220 as pulled in over a grand on the race!
Cyclone Sally tried to lead all the way once again over the mile under Froggy, but she just ran out of steam up into this grade, but still ran a creditable third at $3.70 the place.
Handshake got too far off the pace, and despite the expected big finish, he couldn’t overhaul the winner, running second at $1.40.
Dr Copper started at around the $23 mark, and just failed to hit a place.

Noted flying home for second on New Year’s Day before running second to Trobriand in a G2, so the talent is there. Back from a 6 month break, trialled up twice and presents as the $1.80 fav here, should have enough in the tank to blow this lot away…

Backs up in 7 seven days, and went on our next-time list with a fast-finishing second to the well-backed Cote De Beaune with the rest well-beaten. Tina makes way for Kennedy, which shouldn’t be a problem, and she looks poised to add a third win this prep as $3.70 fav in a close betting race, the extra 200m working in her favour…

Returns for another go on the poly but not sure she’s good enough to make an impact here, interest only at $21…

Easiest one she’s contested for some time having gone round at MV a few times, the last time under 5 lengths from the in-form Pereille. Back to the BM64 and nothing of than calibre here, she’s a real chance as $5 second fav, even with the apprentice up.

She’s been superb this prep, winning twice for us after a few scratchings, and that’s happened again between the last run a month ago and today. Up a touch in grade, but gets her fav jock up top, and looks poised to reward us for our patience again at around $8.50. Value bet all day…
