Bang-on!

Pretty much bang-on yesterday with our two tips…

Sweysive (5 units ew) was right on pace again, but as we suspected, that fav in Rock Empire was always gonna be hard to beat, and so it proved as he powered home for the win, with Sweysive running a third consecutive second, at $1.75, surely a win is on the cards soon…

However, no such problem for Scamster (5 units ew), as we got it dead right… A perennial backmarker with a big finish, we were hoping for him to settle closer, and that’s what happened, although he didn’t look likely 500m out with jockey Taylor Johnstone scrubbing the ears off him, but as they rounded the final bend he found the big finish and never looked like losing once he hit the front, paying $8.80/$2.80, a nice collect for us!

Six from the book today, including what looks like D-Day for one of our insider tips…

Six of the Best for Thursday…

Le Chocolat

Hawkesbury R1

3.15pm

Well it looks like D-Day for this lad, he’s had a few issues but gets the services of JMac up top, so really needs to show his mettle today, otherwise Waller’s likely to ship him out. Stable likes him, this is a handy maiden but scratchings have got him a start, he’s $5.50, so we’re EW plus exotics on him to redeem himself…

Possibly So

Hawkesbury R8

7.30pm

Been in the book for some time now, but did give us a $38 win back in January with a superb last-to-first performance at Randwick. Hasn’t replicated that form since, trialled here under today’s jockey last week without setting the world alight, but Stanley is 1:1 onboard, and he’s another horse that needs to be a bit handier in the run to give him a chance with that late finish. $41 on offer here as the outsider, gonna say keep him safe!

Handshake

Geelong R6

6.00pm

Ran nine times without missing the frame this time last year before a big spell. Not done a lot this prep in three runs, does get back in the run, is back in grade here and pushes out to new territory to the 2470m. Small field with a hotpot fav, but if Shinn slips up then our lad will look to take advantage at $8.50.

BET: 6 unit win

Fire

Geelong R8

7.00pm

His early career form was sound but dropped off during last year. Resumed in early July from a long break needing the run, then ran a better race next up, running on into third at Ballarat before a last of five there 41 days ago. Pushes out to the 1347m for the first time, which should suit, EW at $26.

Mountain Chatter

Goulburn R3

4.45pm

Noted bolting home here in May after a debut win at Canberra in April. Handles the heavy, jockey sticks, small field, this is tougher but can win again, $5.50 on offer…

BET: 6 unit win

More Likely

Northam R7

9.40pm

Resumed from a 4 month break at Pinjarra in early August with a tidy second when well-supported, after finishing last prep with a couple of close fourths. CJP stuck and he booted the gelding home for us here next time out at a nice $7. C Parnham jumped on for a fast-finishing fourth here before CJP jumped back on for a fifth at Bunbury 14 days ago. Back up to the mile and gets the apprentice on today, not writing him off just yet as he’s generally thereabouts, so EW at $8, needs to be handy in the run.
