We felt that the next-time sticker we’d had on MTW since she was spruiked up in early April would pay off a week ago at Riccy, but it was painful watching her held way too far back and finishing like a train for second. Jockey K Hercock jumps off her for another ride in this on our other pick, DG. MTW gets a decent replacement in K Mudhoo, and we go again as $4 fav. DG noted a year back with a huge run from last to win, then ran two very ordinary races before heading to the paddock in July. Did nothing on return at Timaru, might improve to fill a place at $7.

TELLING TALES
Oamaru, 8
Ran an improved third at $17 back to his fav distance 11 days and goes again today, also with K Hercock onboard. Chance at $7.

We were fed some wrong info about this lad last time out, the story being he’d snapped a fetlock and had to be put down. Happily, clearly not the case, though he did pull up with an issue and can bounce back (from the dead) here at $11.

SUCH A WHIT, BRAZEN BRECCIA
Mackay, 8
At $9 and $12, these two are firmly mid-table runners, and both dropping in grade from Open class. Not sure either one of them are up to winning this, but EW chances certainly.

We spruiked him for a closer run last time out, and he obliged with a SP $17 third for us. Reasonable stats for this, and the additional 200m can only help. $5.50 in a close betting field.
