Thursday 19th December 2024

Two places…

Just two placings from yesterday’s midweekers, with Nebraskan running third at $2.20 up at Sha Tin, and More Sugar zooming home late for fourth at Port Lincoln.

Seven for today, let’s see what we can recover…

Thursday’s Super Seven…

Kattegat

Otaki R6

NZ’s version of Kattegat had been in fine form this prep, winning at Ellerslie two months ago, but couldn’t back that up at Trentham 12 days ago. She looks better placed here where she’s placed three from five runs and gets J Riddell up top, $2.00 fav.

BET: 10 unit win

Ramones

Newcastle R5

Resumed 19 days ago and faded badly after leading early. Pushes out to 1250m, has good second-up stats and steps up in grade where he’s 1:1 at BM64 when winning under Penza. This is not a strong field and he rates a chance at $4.80.

BET: 8 unit win

Dreamstone

Seymour R7

Huge win from the front at Benalla three back but couldn’t repeat when trying same tactic a month later at the Valley. Fancied her back in grade 20 days ago at Wodonga but she weakened out to sixth. Pushes out to 2000m here, where she’s 3:1-1 and gets an upgrade up top in Zac Spain. Open betting race, good EW shot at $8.50.

BET: 5 units ew

Call Him Iggy

Seymour R8

The two wins from his first two runs were impressive before he headed to a BM70 at Flem. Went for a break before a third and a sixth, both close, and resumes from a 175 day break. Good first up stats, likes the going, has won on the track, $6 second fav, well worth the EW punt.

BET: 5 units ew

Namazu

Rockhampton R6

Resumes after 138 days and trialled up with a couple of placings. He’s 9:1-4 first-up, and while he finished last prep poorly, his previous form was sound. Heavy form is a question, but another worth keeping safe at $9.00.

BET: 4 units ew

Yosemite Falls, Graysong

Rockhampton R7

Two in this, both with good credentials…

YF went in with a gritty win in Jan this year but has had a couple of breaks away and resumes today. Had a trail (third of three) but can bounce back with a success here, Huxtable a nice booking, $3.90.

Graysong just behind in the betting at $5.50, and was noted with two searing wins in August last year before heading to the paddock for four months. Resumed racing up in grade and not too far off but without threatening before another stint away. Resumed five weeks ago after 218 days back in grade this T&D and had trialled up a month back, and he finished fast for second, earning a next-time tag, then finished well again here 20 days ago for third. Likes the distance, fitter now and can figure, but again, heavy is the question for these two…

BET: YF 5 units ew, GS 4 units ew, exotics.
