Cool Aza Rene (10 unit win) fulfilled the promise she showed on debut with a controlled win yesterday, as punters confirmed their faith in him, backing him in to $1.30. Looks like a nice horse in the making…
Drift Net (10 unit win) loomed up looking like he was gonna win but got run down by an outsider finishing second at $1.30…
Hayai Mesu (3 units ew) was on-pace for once and held on well for third at $4 the place.
Brancaster Bomber didn’t employ his usual go-forward tactics over the shorter course, but finished fast, if a little too late, for fourth.

We recommended watching for her late in the piece in her run at Moruya two back in August, as she came back from Saturday racing, and boy, did she make us wait! Seemingly out of it and labouring at the final bend, she managed to weave a way through and get up by the tiniest of margins for a thrilling win at $2.60. So we fancied her to push on from that last month at Mornington but she never emerged from the back. The rise to 2600m is new territory, but with her known big finishing capability, she’s worth another chance at a juicy $23…

He was huge on resuming in early May at the Bool when sent out a big odds and shot home for second earning a next-time sticker, however he ran an ordinary race at Geelong for sixth. We were happy to forgive that run as he cleaned them out at Donald in his next run in June from a dominating position before he headed to the paddock. Resumes after 145 days, Fred Kersley sticks, and rode him to a trial win two weeks ago. Might prefer a bit of give in the ground, but he’s a real chance in this at $12, especially if he can get across from the wide draw and sit close to the speed.

A natural frontrunner who mixes his form somewhat, and is keeping us waiting for the second win of his career. Drops in grade for this, gets J Stanley up top, but needs to lift his game in order to win this. Third fav at $6.50 in a big, open field, EW.
