Just one winner to show for our efforts yesterday with the gritty Stanislaus (6 unit win) well-supported into $2.90.
Places abounded, twelve in fact:
Prowess ($1.10) Double Take ($6.60), Ardee Boy (ND), C’est Magnifique ($1.40), Gringotts ($1.50), Don Corleone ($3.00), Soulcombe ($2.10), Drift Net ($1.20), Foxy Femme ($1.90), Cosmic Rhapsody ($4.00), Real Gun ($2.20) and En Francais ($4.80), plus three fourths.
Nine yet again today, with a book full of outsiders and backmarkers, but, hey, the horses don’t know that do they? Plus one on the 2 day back-up. Let’s dive in…

LOCHNABERRY

Resumes as the $21 outsider here. Noted last December with a big finish, subsequent runs not quite up to that standard though. Had her only win on heavy, drops back to the mile, so they’ll need to have her closer in the run.

Similar story to the above, though she’s a $31 shot here. Lone win was on heavy and has won first up, but big task here…

Another returning after a break of nearly six months, good stats over this distance, doesn’t mind it wet, and jockey is 2 from 4 onboard. No first-up form, but last run last prep was third in a G3, so has class 0on his side. Fav at $3.50, can win this…

PHORCYS
Bendigo, 2
Watched this lad scream home from dead last a month ago for second, earning a next-time flag over longer, but it didn’t eventuate as he ran a plain seventh. Dropping back to the 1300m today, he’ll need to be closer in the run as a $10 shot, bit drawn well, so EW.

MOSCOW RED
Bendigo, 8
Veteran mare who is more than capable of finishing over the top of these. Back in grade, gets the talented Ms Gaudray up top and has super stats for this distance and going. $8.50 on offer, I’m all over that EW.

HA SHE
Strathalbyn, 7
She ran third on Friday after trying to lead all the way. Steps up in distance surprisingly, but if they decide to run her, then obviously needs watching, $7 on offer, don’t ignore, especially if the money comes…

Coonamble, 2
Back to the outsiders, he’s a $23 shot here, and while he ran a $26 SP third for us two back, and indeed won three on-end for us earlier in the year, he’ll need to be closer in the run to feature here.

MISS JENNIFER
Coonamble, 3
Yet another backmarker who does drop significantly from BM85 to BM66 here. Hasn’t replicated her early good career form and won’t appreciate the wet conditions, so it’s EW in a very even betting field at $4.80.

LOCA
Coonamble, 9
Only two wins from 30, but one of them at his only go at this distance. Is capable of a good finish but will need to travel closer to be with a shot in this. If he wins this, we’ll be dining out for a month, $101 on offer… but, he does get Ben Looker onboard…
