Classic win from Antino…

Scratchings and an abandoned meeting reduced us to 23 runners yesterday, with an almost 50% returning a dividend, with two winners, four seconds, two thirds and three fourths…

Standout winner was undoubtedly Antino, picking up the Doomben Cup in spectacular fashion. Shinn had him sitting almost last until he made his move it the 600m mark, surging to lead to win effortlessly by four lengths with a leg in the air, with Fawkner Park grabbing second for a nice $12.70 quinella.

The other winner was Velocious, who bounced back from a couple of disappointing runs to get up for us at Te Rapa.

Three good runs last prep, then finished with a last of nine up in the grade before a six month break. Resumed at Woodville 25 days ago and wasn’t far off in fifth, and will certainly be fitter for that, $5.50 in a small and even field, good track stats.

Resumes from a 161 day break, has won first up but hard to catch and this looks too short, $10 shot.

Resumes after 80 days, her win in March was notable as she waited for the gap and cruised home for nice win the clear maidens at her second race. Open betting race but a real chance at $6.50.

Going OK without threatening this prep, hard to catch but down in grade and up in distance, second fav at $4, EW in a race dominated by a hot fav.

Primed to win this after running a fast-finishing second here a week ago, so up to the mile will suit. Will be dropping in late and looks the winner, $3.90 on offer.
