45% return a dividend…
Three winners, three seconds, two thirds and two fourths from our tips yesterday, that’s just over 45% providing a return!
Couple of fantastic close finishes for our winners, Nortibutnice (8 unit win) sported some great stats, and she came come with a wet sail to get home by the closest of margins paying $3.80, with our other tip June Bug (4 units ew) running third at $2.10.
The next winner was Northern Queensland visitor Hell (10 unit win), who came down to try his luck at Doomben and produced a gritty win paying $4.30.
The other winner was the very consistent Wango Award (4 units ew), he’s got a wicked finish in his armoury and used it to full benefit paying $12.30/$2.60, and another entry into the Hall of Fame.
Places for King of the Bounty ($1.40), Palazzo Prince ($2.60), More Than Words ($2.20) and Mali Ston (wow, $9.10!) with fourths for Waitak and Democracy Manifest (I still had a succulent Chinese meal!)
OK, busy little Sunday, here’s Hawera, Aussie to come…
NZ today
Lord Spencer
Hawera R2
Going OK without winning this prep but gets his chance here, $4.40 in an open betting race.
BET: 5 unit win
Zeefa Zed
M4 Hawera R3
Ditto ZZ, thereabouts in six hurdles races and débuts over the fences here as $2.70 co-fav. Can win if he handles it…
BET: 5 unit win
Badgeringdawitness, Fleming
Hawera R8
BTW returns from an 85 day spell, not noted first-up. Only two wins from 27, sits at $4.40 in this small field and up in grade.
Fleming just behind at $5, was nowhere near on resuming in July but has run two better races since, wins have come on heavy.
BET: Both 3 unit win, exotics
Boy
Hawera R10
Spruiked and well-supported on debut in Jan, last out the gates and finished fast for second before a close fifth at Trentham and a closer second next up before heading to the paddock. Resumed after 85 day break in May needing the run, and resumed from another 85 day spell after winning a trial with a third here three weeks back. Fitter, ready to clear maidens today as $4.20 second fav.
BET: 5 units ew
Aussie today
Auf Weidersehen
Ballarat R2
Lost rider 14 days ago, not going well enough, $26 in this…
BET: 2 units ew
Point Nepean
Ballarat R4
Got too far back and came home for a distant second to this fav 21 days ago, race in two.
BET: Best having a 10 unit quinella these two
Croatian Belle
Pakenham Synthetic R5
Impressive winning her first two, gone well without threatening to win since but Shinn got her out fast here last month and just failed to hang on in a gritty effort. Mickey Dee jumped on 13 days ago and repeated the placing. Knocking on the door, $7 makes him a decent EW bet here.
BET: 5 units ew
Sapphires Son
Goulburn R4
Ran a class record at Quirindi this week a year ago but hasn’t approached that sort of form since, apart from a second at Goulburn in June. Thought he’d be better up to the mile 13 days ago but couldn’t get into the finish. Is capable but needs to lift to feature here as $51 outsider.
BET: 2 units ew
Storm De Lune
Goulburn R5
Better 8 days ago for third but still needs to improve, $19 in this.
BET: 2 units ew
Chorlton Lane
Goulburn R7
Last two runs very disappointing after two good wins, and rocks up here to try and qualify for the Big Dance, as are a few other metro entries. Needs to be winning this, $4.40 fav in this.
BET: 5 units ew
Vesper Lynd
Kilcoy R3
Noted on debut at Ipswich almost a year ago, so it’s been a long wait for her to re-appear. Got trapped in that race and looked the winner if she got out. They’ve got her as $2.50 fav, so stable confidence must be high.
BET: 10 unit win
Fantasy Eagle
Alice Springs R2
Has plenty of experience going round here. Spaces his wins out somewhat but frequently makes the frame. Resumes from a 70 day spell, EW shot in this at $7.50.
BET: 3 units ew
Fiendish
Kalgoorlie R8
Similar story with Fiendish, but going OK this prep with three runs in the frame at big odds. Will need luck from the carpark draw at $26.
BET: 2 units ew
