Another two…
Bit of a mixed day, ended up with just 14 from the book, and again produced two winners.
Kalahari Heart (7 unit win) handled the heavy surface to get up at $3.20, and Fortified (5 unit win) found it easier back at his preferred grade, winning at $4.40.
A bit lean other than that, with Baraqiel running third at his first attempt down the straight at Headquarters, $1.60, and fourths for Duke of Hastings and Cindy Falls.

He’s gone well in three of his five runs this prep, including a big win second-up at Riccy paying a whopping $27, and has placed two of three on heavy, should be thereabouts in an open event, $9.50 looks value…

Cork found a nice bit of form this time last year but hasn’t shown much since… Needed the resuming run a month ago at Tauranga and will relish the heavy conditions today. Back up to the mile, where she’s a G3 placegetter and has a handy second-up record, so rate her a chance at $9.50. Lord Darci similarly needed the run 17 days ago at Ashburton, his best form was two years ago and he’s thrown in the odd place since without threatening. No second-up form to speak of, but also enjoys the heavy and he’s a G3 winner in the past, $10 on offer for him.
BET: Can back both 3 units ew, could spice up the exotics in another open event…
Point Nepean, Auf Weidersehen

PN had been running in some rich flat company before his 309 day spell, and resumes today making his hurdles debut. Trialled three times recently, and looks to make an impact as $2.10 fav, looks like a race in two in a small field… AW hasn’t shown anything for some time, hard to see him winning this as a $10 shot.

Shore To Happen

Very smart winning on debut last October, then ran fifth, then last, in November then went to the paddock. Returned from a 207 day break needing the run but made late progress, then ran a very close fourth 15 days ago. Will enjoy the firmer surface and should be hard to beat as long as she jumps well, $3.70 fav.

Loves the track (8:3-2), as is his second-up form and firm ground form. Needed the resuming run 14 days ago here, and though this is harder, we rate him a real value bet in this at $15 in another open betting race, look for him late in the piece…

Returns from a 147 day spell and has decent early prep form. Won at Randwick for us in January at $26. Another one that possesses a big finish, he trialled up for this late last month and we think he’s another great EW bet at $9.50.
