BANG! Another $20 Hall of Famer!!
Well, ANG!! really as Ang Pow (3 units ew) justified our confidence that he had a win in him after his excellent early career form. The last run at Eagle Farm suggested he could fill a place or better and he duly obliged with a strong win at $20.70/$6.00, and another Hall of Fame entry…
Kiwi Gringotts (10 unit win) did his reputation no harm at all with a very cruisy win to make it three in a row this prep, paying $2.00.
Bifrost ran a huge third down the Flem straight, paying $6.60.
Fourths for Regal Lion, Saloon Bar and Enterprise Pomme.
Sixteen on a busier than usual Sunday, let’s have a look!
Sunday’s Sweet Sixteen…
Zeefa Zed
Hawera R1
Ultra-wet tracker, will find this too hard even in this small field, might run a place… $10 on offer.
BET: 5 unit win
Lord Spencer
Hawera R3
Back over hurdles, has had a win and four placings in five runs, small field but can back EW on NZTAB at $5.50.
BET: 4 units ew
Interllectus
Hawera R4
Not far off this prep without threatening but will be fitter now. EW at $4.80
BET: 5 units ew
The First Link
Hawera R9
Ditto for this fella, rises in class but rates an EW show at $6.50.
BET: 5 units ew
Thoros Of Myr, Cornelian Bay
Devonport Synthetic R6
TOM produced a big finish when resuming 14 days ago here from a 10 month break when well-supported, suggesting he’ll be up for it again over the slightly longer distance, $2.80 fav.
CB ran on well here resuming on the same day, threat at $3.80. Looks like a race in two.
BET: Leaning to TOM, 10 unit win, plus 10 unit quinella these two
Sir Simon
Devonport Synthetic R8
Mixes his races a bit and resumes from an 81 day break. Good first-up record and drops in grade for this, good T&D stats, value at $8.
BET: 5 units ew
The Awesome Son
Casterton R1
He’s a long way his best form and well beaten last two over hurdles, will need to improve significantly to feature here, $16 shot.
BET: 2 units ew
Teewaters
Casterton R8
Two lasts and two next to lasts in his past four is hardly scintillating reading, but he is down in class, is a G1 placegetter, and they’ve got him at $6.50 in this, so just a little wary of him.
BET: 3 units ew
Cool Encounter
Sunshine Coast R3
Been thereabouts without threatening lately, the heavy didn’t suit last time, the soft today will and this is his fav distance. EW shot at $10
BET: 3 units ew
Donation
Sale R5
The win three back was followed with a couple of seventh placings, resumes from an 80 day spell, not much first-up form to mention, $18 on offer.
BET: 2 units ew
Raging Rush, Kattegat
Parkes R6
These two are in the top three in the betting here, either side of the $5 mark, and we just prefer RR over Kattegat. JPH sticks and he’s 7:3-3 up top. K ran a brave second at big odds for us a month ago after a nice win at Sapphire Coast.
BET: Back both 5 units ew, 10 unit quinella
Wild Rocket
Parkes R7
Needed the resuming run, last win was 16 months ago so will need to improve to feature, $31 on offer.
BET: 2 units ew
Pahang
Parkes R8
He’s been rocking around the picnics this prep, with four wins and a second in his last five. Obviously a step up for him but dies bet Michaela Weir up top, worth a speculator at $34!
BET: 3 units ew
Little Rich Boy
Strathalbyn R8
Gave ‘em a bath at Gawler two back then couldn’t quite hold on two weeks later up in grade at the same T&D but ran a gritty third. Back to the BM56 and winning jockey Jess Eaton back onboard. Might be a 77 race veteran but fancy he can win this, $5.50 on offer.
