Five winners on a 54% return Saturday!
Well we certainly banged home a few goals yesterday in true PG’s Tips style!
Five winners, four seconds, three thirds and three fourths, almost 54% of our tips returning a dividend!
Invercargill proved a happy hunting ground, with Lochnaberry sprinting away in fine style to win the Gold Cup down there by three length, back in grade but up to the 2600m. If you got on early, you were rewarded with $17 for the win, but a late surge pushed her into $10/$2.80, nice reward for our 3 unit ew investment.
And in the last race, The Grey Goose provided a carbon copy of that run, the 4 units ew at $9.20/$3.10 finishing off the day nicely there.
Orchestral (10 unit win) won as expected at $1.50, some classy horse that, with Just As Sharp (3 units ew, $1.80) providing the quinella at $4.60 and they anchored us to the trifecta ($30) and first four ($165) in the recommended exotics.
Blue Spinel was up in grade chasing 4 wins from 5, and despite fading in the betting, she flew home like a good ‘un, the 10 unit win paying off handsomely at $4.
And Switzerland followed up her impressive debut win with a gritty finish to prevail in the first at Randwick, looks a bit special, (10 unit win, $1.60).
Biggest disappointment, and toughest watch of the day, was watching Jimmysstar go under at Flem. Looked like he’d done enough in a head-to-head down the straight, only to be overhauled by 150-1 shot Makram, costing us plenty in our win multi… Ah well, that’s racing…
Placings from Let Fly ($5.50), Mollynickers ($2.00), C’Est Magique $1.80), Learning To Fly ($1.90), Kristilli ($4.60) plus fourths from Winston Blue, He’s Our Bonneval, Fantasy Eagle. Don’t forget you can now get fourth placed dividends on the NZTAB, when the system isn’t down of course…

Impressive on debut at Wanganui in November when she simply ran away from them under Jasmine. Followed that up with two very ordinary runs before heading to the paddock. Resumes after 78 days, Jasmine back up top and if she’s right she can take this out, $4.50 on offer in a small even betting field.

Has a habit of getting back but does have a decent finish in him. Billy Egan jumps on but will need to be closer in the run dropping back to this distance. $6 at the mo, EW chance..

Not out of the first two in five runs this prep, so stats are good. Souquet back on today, will go close as $3.40 second fav and can reverse last loss to this fav with pull in the weights.

CANNY HELL
Albury, 7
Super-cruisy on resuming here a month ago, winning as he liked by over three lengths. Awkwardly drawn 17 days ago here, but won as expected. On-pacer this time in, and he gets the 1400m, will be very hard to stop at $6 in an open betting event.

EFFORTKAT
Port Lincoln, 4
Plenty of experience on this track and she’s been around the mark without winning this prep. The push out to the 1240m should suit, capable of a good finish and draws the ace gate, so should land a little closer. $3.80 on offer, not a strong field, she can win this…
