44% strike rate
Nice returns from our 25 tips yesterday, with three winners, four seconds, two thirds and two fourths, that’s 44% paying a dividend!
Best winner was Yonce (10 unit win), who we fancied third-up with Jonny Allen back onboard, and the NZ-bred mare duly obliged at $3.50, anchoring us to a nice collect on the early qadi at Caulfield.
Add to that a dominant win by Wheels (5 unit win, $3.20) and Ruler Rocket (8 unit win, $4.00).
Places for Crocetti, Millefiori, Enterprise Pomme, Bold Type, Focus, Mali Ston, Asfoora and Amati.
Ten from the book today, including a couple of live chances at Tauranga…
Sunday’s Top Ten…
MARENGO
Tauranga, 4
Impressed on debut last April and has resumed last month with two seconds as fav, should be fitter now and able to take this out as $2.60 fav, but looks a race in two with New Millenium.
BET: 10 unit win, 10 unit quinella
CHAKANA
Tauranga, 7
Returned from a 19 month absence a month ago here after going to. Aussie after a very good prep here two years ago, and ran three nice races. She presented as the rank outsider on that day and charged home to win at $19. She’s 3:3 here, loves the distance, and C Barnes sticks up top. $8 on offer in an open betting race, we’ll be all over her at that price!!
BET: 5 units ew
ALL ABOUT EVE
Bendigo, 6
Been a while since she saluted and needs to improve somewhat to figure here. Has won this T&D and Zac Spain hops on but it’s a small interest bet only at $14…
BET: 2 units ew
NUMPTY, CHARLIE’S TIN
Bendigo, 8
Numpty was a nice third two back but she faded late last time at Camperdown. Better suited back to the 1300m, Coffey jumps back onboard, EW shot at $12.
CT hasn’t raced much in the past year, a couple of spells in the paddock either side of a last at Cranbourne last October but did finish well twice prior to that for a win and a fourth. Resumes today, probably a bit on the short side for him and looks like needing the run but jockey is 1:1 up top. $61 on offer.
BET: Both 2 units ew, would spice up the exotics somewhat…
DONATION
Ararat, 4
Came from the back with a withering burst 11 days ago at Mt Gambier over 1400m, suggesting his first go at the mile should suit. Bates is a nice booking, should be there late at $6…
BET: 5 units ew
FRANKEL STAR
Naracoorte, 7
Rarely far off and a good second at Morphettville 15 days ago at the BM82 grade. On-pacer stepping up to 2000m but back in grade, good prospect if ridden a bit more conservatively. Jockey has good record up top, $4.80 on offer.
BET: 5 units ew
VERY SEWREEL
Hobart, 5
Dominant win at the Valley 15 days ago, talented filly who looks like handling the rise to 2100m, $2.10 fav in a race in two.
BET: 10 unit win
DESERT PETARD, MORE LIKELY
Pinjarra, 9
DP resumed 16 days ago with a creditable fourth at Bunbury. His career has also been blighted with lengthy spells out but rates a chance based on that last run as a $21 shot.
ML ran ninth in that race. He’s lightly-raced and is better than recent form indicates, $26 shot here.
BET: Both 3 units ew, again, exotics would be interesting…
