Three nice winners!
Nine tips, three winners and a couple of placings, not a bad day’s work for a Friday!
We spruiked up Talisker (10 unit win) after his win on return five weeks ago, and he duly obliged with a dominant win at $2.80.
Over at Morphettville, we weren’t sure whether the two thirds by Tydeus (2 units ew) would be enough to make an impact in this, but someone knew better than we did as he was well-supported in the betting and never looked like getting beat as he bolted in at $7.60/$2.30.
Similarly, we thought backmarker Tara Jasmine (3 unit win) would find the 1000m a bit short, but that didn’t matter as she won at a nice $6.40. Bold Type filled third.
Ha She (4 units ew) tried to lead all the way, just got caught in the final 50m but still ran a decent third at $1.60.

CC beaten by AB on their debuts, both will need to be at their best to beat this fav but not out of the question. CC is $3.20, AB $5.50 in this small field. Small win bets (3 unit win) but may be better to focus on exotics…

Hawera, 6
Prowess presents as the even money fav, and with 7 wins from 9 looks very hard to beat. Belclare consistent, third fav here at $7.50, can make the frame here.

INMYSHADOW, FREE SPIRIT
Hawera, 8
IMS has been battling of late, should be closer on the less heavy going, place shot at $12. FS a touch ordinary last time but was going well previously, and can feature in the finish even as the $26 outsider.

AVALENE
Matamata, 5
Needed the resuming run three weeks ago, but won twice at this level before a five month break. Newman jumps back onboard, EW shot at $26.

Similar odds for these two, around $18, Gospodin a bit ordinary recently while Cork has been a bit more consistent. Not sure they’ll trouble Legarto, so EW best plus exotics.

Former HK runner, hasn’t quite lived up to that promise, possible EW at $16.

We got it right 17 days ago with this lad, with talented Ms Gaudray jumping onboard to steer him home at Sandown. Tougher here but a live hope in an open betting event at $6.

Gone very well this prep, D Moor mostly onboard and she’s been close up every time without winning. Up in grade here as well as distance, the extra distance should suit, and no reason she can’t figure again at $7.50.

His best puts him in this, drops back from the G1 at Rosehill two weeks ago, finishing within 2.3 lengths. Chance at $11.

NZer who won his first three in Aus before 5 months in the paddock. Returned last month with a couple of tune-ups and can make the frame as $6.50 second fav, though First Immortal having made the field looks hard to beat.

ROMANTIC WARRIOR, SOULCOMBE, FRANCESCO GUARDI, SMOKIN’ ROMANS
Flemington, 8
These boys are up against the beast from Hong Kong in Romantic Warrior, by all accounts an astonishing horse, and his record and stats are outstanding. He’s first up after 4 months but with JMac up top, he looks unbeatable.
Soulcombe won on resumption for us a month ago at a juicy $19 then ran a close fourth to Alligator Blood, and he should fill a place at least here at $7.
FG ($17) and SR ($71) could spice up exotics.

C’EST MAGIQUE, SHOWMANSHIP, CAUSE FOR CONCERN
Flemington, 9
Lightly-raced mare who ran well on resumption behind Benedetta last month and looks a great EW bet here at $4.80. Showmanship has won 8 from 11, back today after 13 months away. Needless to say he has great stats, though this is his first run at headquarters. In good goods under Zahra, EW shot for me at $18. CC has been in solid form at this track, steps up today but can fill minors at $26.

STANISLAUS, FIRE, PIONEER RIVER
Rosehill, 4
Stanislaus ran down the track here 14 days ago but previous form solid and presents here as the $3.70 fav. Fire’s early career from has been disturbed by several breaks. Returned a month ago for a close fifth and is open to improvement as $6.50 chance. PR is as honest as they come and can fill the frame again here as $8.50 shot.

Very consistent mare, frontrunner who found the 1500m too far last time, reverts to 1400m, has great T&D stats and is an easy EW bet here as $4 second fav.
