Five Star Friday!
It was a Five Star Friday for us as we rattled in five wins in the space of an hour yesterday!!
Rule of Time (3 units ew) kicked us off nicely, after some so-so form after her maiden win last September, paying $9.00/$2.80.
That was followed by an amazing run from June Bug (3 units ew), who’s form-line belied her talent, and back in a grade where she’s won before. The talented Denby-Rose Tait took her to the front and it was all over 600m out as she shot away to a ten length lead and cantered over the line, having been massively supported in from $15 to $5.70/$2.10.
The stepped up Tactfull (5 units ew), with Brad Rawiller producing an exquisite late run from last to win by a length, $3.70/$1.70.
Next was Seiryu (2 units ew), recent form in past two runs disappointing but boy, did he lift for this, getting up at $7.40/$2.60.
And finally ex-Kiwi Bifrost, and Billy Egan got the big grey out of the gates smartly and into a nice position just behind the pace, as we hoped, and his famous bold finish saw him get up at $4.60/$1.40.
Elsewhere, Moxatation ran on into fourth, he was at big odds of $41.
Just the three in NZ today, Aussie tips to follow…
NZ today
Chabal
Otaki R1
Noted on debut a month ago here with a big finish from the back to run second, suggesting the push out to the mile will suit him to a T as $3.40 fav in this big field, though the Odds Surge on NZTAB is offering $3.90.
BET: 10 unit win
Jack In The Box, The First Link
Te Rapa R6
We spruiked up JITB 16 days ago at Wanganui after his previous run, suggesting he might be running back into some kind of form, especially up in distance, and the market supported this as he won by a nice margin. Loves the heavy, Jessica Allen sticks and he has won here which makes him a solid EW bet at $11.
TFL was well beaten three weeks ago, goes OK heavy but will need to lift to feature here as $34 shot…
BET: JITB 4 units ew, TFL 2 units ew
Aussie today
I Am Velvet
Caulfield R1
Two from two, the second one 12 days ago an impressive three length win at Pak, and this looks like a race in two. $2.70 second fav.
BET: 10 unit win, 10 unit quinella with Dom
Teewaters
Caulfield R4
Looking to win this for the third year in a row. Hasn’t been in great form this prep, but they’ll have been pointing him at this, and his T&Ds are very good. A real chance, especially back on firmer ground, $15 looks attractive…
BET: 5 units ew
Recommendation, Marble Nine
Caulfield R7
Recommendation looks a bit special, stats are through the roof, and he’s heading for bigger things, hard to beat as $1.40 fav after his resuming 7 length win here in the Monash, and B Shinn sticks. MN is the one who could take advantage of any weakness, he found well under pressure here 14 days ago, just not sure about the rise to 1200m, $9 on offer.
BET: R 10 unit win, MN 2 units top three
Showmanship
Caulfield R8
Early career form was spectacular, winning eight of his first ten but has obviously had issues, having a couple of lengthy spells in the paddock. Steps up to the mile after three poor runs this prep, but, significantly, gets back on a firm track where he’s 5:5-0, and gets D Lane up top. No doubt he has talent, this could be the day he bounces back, watch for him late as a $15 shot…
BET: 3 units ew
Extreme Flight, Scissor Step
Caulfield R9
EF spaces his wins out somewhat but stuck on well when resuming in May to get up for us at $11. Next two runs not so good, the jump up to 1400m could assist, as could the firmer track, EW at $23.
SS has won two of five this prep, though this is a step up in grade and distance for him. Good record at the track and also on firmer tracks. $34 on offer, EW shot…
BET: Both 3 units ew
Amarantz
Randwick R2
This is slightly easier, and the push out to 1800m should suit her fast-finishing style, don’t dismiss here even at $21.
BET: 3 units ew
Scamster
Morphettville R1
Has popped up for a couple of places this prep but this looks a bit out of his range, $21 outsider.
BET: 2 units ew
Sachem
Morphettville R2
Another with a big finish in his arsenal and hasn’t been far off this prep without winning, the push out to the mile suits today and he gets J Kah onboard, time he won one and this is surely it, $1.65 fav.
BET: 10 unit win
More Sugar
Morphettville R4
Must be late-finishers’ day today, so out to 1500m will help. Good record on the track, like the soft, EW shot at $7 in an open race.
BET: 4 units ew
Abb Roy
Doomben R5
Race #157 and she’s on the 7 day back-up, interest bet as the $201 outsider.
BET: 2 units ew
Rose Noir
Doomben R8
Our insider horse is up again, stable has her going well and she ran a nice second 22 days ago. The 1200m is the concern, picking they’ll settle her just off the pace and produce her late. Up in grade, $9 shot.
BET: 4 units ew
Storm De Lune
Kembla Grange R8
Needs to improve massively to feature, $71 shot.
BET: 2 units ew
Festival Prince
Toowoomba R6
Two good finishes to start this prep had us fancying him 7 days ago here but he didn’t feature. Up to the mile, could figure late, $8.50 on offer.
BET: 3 units ew
Wango Award
Belmont R6
Three runs this prep have produced a win under Johnson-Porter, plus two sevenths under Pikey, strange fact… $13 shot with Pikey on the fav. Down in grade, not sure about the heavy, though he’s 1:0-1, so a chance at $14.
BET: 3 units ew
Saloon Bar
Belmont R7
Resumes from a small break, likes the distance, untested on heavy, $7.50 on offer.
BET: 3 units ew
Sir Diamond
Roebourne R6
Consistent without winning, will need to improve to win it but EW shot at $23.
BET: 3 units ew
